The Cathedral at sunset, Mt Buffalo National Park, Australia. 21/02/2015

I went chasing the crescent Moon and Venus/Mars conjunction and other star images at one of my favorite locations yesterday evening.
The weather put pay to any night shots and I only got a quick glimpse of the conjunction, but the trip was not a complete waste with one star making a brief appearance.

This is beautiful, Greg!

I did manage the Venus/Mars conjunction with the crescent moon, but it was a sad attempt without tripod (leaning against the car) and I was so frustrated with trying to get the setting right. In the end, it was the ol'point and shoot (with hand over the flash no less!) because the camera just kept telling me that the subject was too dark and wouldn't take the shot on most of the other settings. The funny thing is, I didn't know there was actually a conjunction happening as Venus was so bright, I couldn't see Mars until I got the photos (such as they were) up on the computer screen. So I really hope that you can get something better tonight 'cause I would LOVE to see what you can capture with your skills!!
