A Package for Mrs. Rizzo

Chester bicycled down Ebon Row. He had a last package to deliver but wasn't in a hurry. He never hurried down Ebon Row. To him, Ebon Row was the Street of Gorgeous Dames.

He had a package for Mrs. Rizzo, a gorgeous Hollywood blonde. She was another beautiful broad whose husband was away thanks to the war. From what the neighborhood gossip--old lady Bellamy -- had told Chester whilst feeding him cookies, her husband was in Hawaii making sure Navy ships got their groceries.

Chester always liked dropping off Mrs. Rizzo's packages. She was a good tipper with beautiful legs.

Up the street, a couple of big Army guys in their sharp uniforms were coming out of a house. Yea, it was old Mrs. Potter's sons coming to visit. Chester hated them. They were big and handsome and had uniforms the dames loved. Underweight, too short, 4-F Chester in his Acme Delivery uniform couldn't compete.

The Potter boys clambered into a taxi and sped out of sight. Chester forgot them the instant he saw Mrs. King come out of Mrs. Rizzo's house. That kind of surprised Chester. Old Lady Bellamy said those broads hated each other.

Mrs. Estelle King was an elegant brunette who favored black and red as her colors. She came striding down the sidewalk her high heels. Lady had all the sass of a panther. Chester felt himself go warm as she signaled him to stop.

"Good afternoon, Chester," she husked. "Anything for me today?"

"Ah, sorry, no, Mrs. King," he replied. "Got something for Mrs. Rizzo, though. She at home?"

Mrs. King's smile made Chester think of that lady vampire in "Dracula's Mistress."

"Oh, she's there, but she's kind of tied up right now," Mrs. King informed him. "But I know the door's unlocked. Just knock and go in. I know she's been waiting for that delivery." She strutted away, hypnotizing Chester until he forced his mind back to business.

Chester knocked out of habit when he got to the Rizzo home's front door. Nobody answered, but he heard an odd, muffled squeal and thumping inside. He cautiously opened the door and entered the house.

Shrill squealing and wooden creaking greeted Chester when stepped into the living room. He almost dropped his package and gaped.

Mrs. Rizzo was all tied up!

Somebody had tied her to a chair and gagged her with a bandanna. And she was wearing lacy black underwear and matching high heels. Kind of like those dirty pictures Chester sometimes managed to procure.

Mrs. Rizzo squealed again and regarded Chester with wide-eyed horror. Chester shook out of his trace and ran to her. Fumbling for a second, he started untying her hands.

"Holy cats!" he declared as he freed her. "Who did you to ya, Mrs. Rizzo?! You get robbed?! I'll call the cops..."

She got loose and yanked her gag away. "No! No, don't call the cops or anything!"

"But who tied you up?"

"The bitch Estelle! She got a letter, found out about me and Frank ..."

"Her husband?"

"She found out we were writing each other, and she's crazy and she tied me up!" Mrs. Rizzo rasped as Chester started untying her legs. "Oh, God! I'm glad you found me! She said she was coming back and... and... oh shit, oh shit she's evil! What she was going to do to me!"

Mrs. Rizzo stood and composed herself. "Chester, listen. Don't say anything about this. Right?"

"Ah, right. Right, Mrs. Rizzo."

She hurried and got her purse, pulled out some cash and made Chester take it. "Here! You didn't see anything. Right?"

Chester was seeing quite a lot. He was looking down her cleavage and marveling at her figure and legs. "Ah, right. Didn't see nothing. Never happened."

Mrs. Rizzo kissed him on the forehead. "You're a good boy, Chester. Stop by sometime. I'll have something special for you," she whispered. "You're a cute guy."

Chester returned to his bicycle. What did that crazy dame mean by "something special?" e wondered as he started peddling home.
