FOR THE LOVE OF CHEESE, FULL VIEW PLEASE!!! ;0;Anybody who tries to tell me that mimicking the Sonic Riders style of art is easy is going to get kicked. HARD. @o; *dies*
Anyways! This is actually an older pic. Probably going on nearly a year old now, actually. It was done before Sonic Riders even came out.
Because if anybody in the Sonic universes deserved to be put in Sonic Riders, it was Manic the Hedgehog. <3<3<3
Yes, I know his hoverboard is the wrong colours. But part of what makes the Sonic Riders art -work- is the fact that they have a certain main colour with little other colours in it. And giving him the red and yellow board just completely destroyed this. ;;;
So I gave him a green and yellow one instead. Hey, after all, if he were part of the Babylon Rogues, Wave woulda built him a better Gear, yes? Yes.
Oh, and you all know he'd be a Babylon Rogue. He so would~
Originally sketched in pencil, then brought to OpenCanvas 3 and inked and coloured there. Over a period of about... mmm... five hours? About that.
Doing those frigging shadow things made me insane. @_@

Manic's always been my favorite character in Sonic Underground. He was cool, badass, occasionally funny, and green. Cool picture. Y'know there are some who swear that green bird in Sonic Riders is based off of Manic.

i like how you emulated the style. though you could've connected the lines in Manic's shadow on his hover board. other than that, this is pretty good. i'm sure you've improved quite a bit since you uploaded this.

Oh my god can I just. I barely remember ANYTHING about him, but I absolutely loved Manic. I really need to watch Sonic Underground again and relive that. This design is really rad, and I think makes him fit perfectly into Modern Sonic days. It looks official and that kind of makes me cry. ; v ;

Manic wouldn't have been a Babylon Rogue because he lacks their common heritage. And Manic's hoverboard is way superior to the common Extreme Gear. It has a completely different propulsion system, akin to the repulsorlifts of Star Wars.
But he so should have been in the game. It was a tribute to him after all. It's no coincidence that Jet and Wave resemble Manic and Sonia, and the whole hoverboard gimmick...

The Sonic Riders style is indeed very hard to get right, but you pulled it off so nicely. ^.^ I think it suits Manic rather well, and he just has a lovely design in general, ne? It also fits your style I think. :3 And... I -adore- his shoe here. @_@ <3<3<3 x3
