Description
I'm sculpting this keystone using a homemade mixture of "Celluclay" and joint compound ( Spackle). This mixture of 3:1, works very well as an air dry clay and is pretty strong and is giving a nice stone like texture all by it's self, no real texturing tools needed.I also like the warm light gray color when it's dry. Photo looks more cool gray then it really is. Dimensions, "9 high x 7" wide at the top.

Celluclay and spackle 3:1? Does that last well in all weather, and how well mixed does it have to be? I suspect you put that mixture in a mold?

This clay mixture is basically a paper mache clay, it's strong and light weight, yet easy to carve and sand. But it would last out doors for only a short time, then start disintegrating.
I mix up small batches at a time, by hand, so it's all one color. I'm using this to sculpt with directly, when that's done I'll make a mold to cast a material that can go outside.
You could put this mix into a mold, but paper based clays shrink a bit and also take awhile to dry...like a day or more even with a fan blowing on it full time.
