Description So I discovered advanced editing and that there is a knife tool in pmx. I looked and there were no tutorials or information about it at all. At least not on DA. So I wanted to share with everyone this info. Specially since it can be Super useful for editing.
I mean if you need to create new vertices you don't have to abandon or export the mesh.

Edit: Thanks to maddoktor2 I know there is in fact also a knife tool in Pmde.   Also thanks to waltervd I can tell you all holding shift will snap it to angles. I.e the vertices will follow the shape of your mesh!
Note 2: You have to release the mouse when you're done dragging to get the vertices.

Object used is my flat chest mermaid dress you can find here: fav.me/dbbl7h6

Additional Info: The "Add/Config" part can make bone, rigid body, and physic structures if you change the tabs and click "Start".
Hope this helps! ^^

FYI if you hold shift it snaps to angles

it does fuck up textures from time to time so use it carefully >.>

Oooo that's super useful.

And yeah it can,but that's that a risk with any pmx editing. One just has to be careful or willing to edit the texture itself.

i sometimes use the knife tool for when rigging skirts i made XD
if i forgot to give them more verts where they bend i sometimes just use the knife tool and then refine my rigging ouo

Well hopefully more people are able to use it for stuff like that.

I wouldn't be surprised if people used it for if the importing of the models into other programs was messing up for some reason too.

the only time i had a BIG use for that knife tool is when some one asked me to rig the skirt of a princess peach model that was ripped from a game
it was so low poly i added more verts using the knife tool to add a line or 4 xD
it helped out a ton >.>

A game model that's low poly? What game was it? All the game rips I've seen are high or medium poly

Pmx Editor is a program used to rig and put together 3d models that can be used in MikuMikuDance.

An example of things that have been made with it:

Ah! Really pretty

Thanks for explaining. The first time I saw it, I thought you were digitally carving a pumpkin and was amused. XD

Complex stuff tho, really cool

It's surprisingly easy once you have the hang of it. But at first it's really daunting.
As for digitally carving a pumpkin, well they do have 3d pumpkins one can download and edit. So technically you can do that with the program.
