I totally love Nicki! I listen to weird combinations of music, though. My most recent purchases are Nicki Minaj's new singles, "War On Women", a feminist punk band, and "Vincent and Mr. Green". None of those bands have anything in common.

I love her and a lot of what she stands for, but I cannot stand her music. I myself am an avid metal fan! I listen to all kinds of metal. 80's metal, hair metal, death metal, black metal, metalcore, deathcore, grindcore, slam, thrash, etc. etc. I've been passionate about it for most of my life.

I bounce all over the place for music. I do love metal, especially when I find something truly unique like Igorrr or the Locust. You heard of Igorrr? Damn near the best music I've ever heard.

Ever heard of Between the Buried and Me? I honestly cannot say that I have one truly definitive favorite band, but BtBaM comes the closest that any band ever has to just being my one true favorite. Their album Parallax II: The Future Sequence is absolutely brilliant! But it's an undertaking.

Seriously check out Igorrr, it's some wild stuff that mixes in tons of influences into metal.

So I've given it a listen, and I really like their overall sound. I enjoy how frantic and all over the place they are, and all of their individual elements are done pretty damn well, but being honest this is just not for me. It's interesting for sure, but not something that I;d choose to listen to, or really be interested in hearing more of. But it is definitely unique and I am glad that it hits your good time spots!

I can listen to Igorrr for hours as well as Whourkr, another band Igorrr was in. Crazy stuff but definitely not for everyone.
I checked out Parallax II and definitely see the appeal there! It reminds me of some of Dream Theater's albums, particularly Metropolis part two: Scenes From a Memory. That damn album took me, like, a year to digest. These huge, ambitious albums are so rewarding when they click!

Parallax II took me quite a few spins to fully appreciate. There's just so much going on! But, it was worth it!
I actually have another album that I'd like to recommend, if you are interested.
This album is another top tier for me. The band is called Panopticon and the album is called Kentucky. It is a one man band, and he does (this is the actual genre) Modern, post, atmospheric black metal. (jesus lol)
This album is a concept album about how the coal mining industry destroyed his home state of Kentucky, and it is a masterful blend of Atmospheric black metal, western folk, and Kentucky bluegrass. It is a dense album, and it definitely takes multiple spins, but for real, it is a masterpiece. It's impossible for me to listen and not get swept away.

I'm always amazed at the one man band types. It's really hard. I've recorded music and tried the one man band thing and it was a bitch. I moved away to focus on my art since recording music was taking a lot of time and effort for little gain. Anyone who can play all or most the instruments on a album the record themselves gets my thumbs up. One of my favorite artists, Sufjan Stevens, has done this. The amount of instruments he plays on his albums is insane!
Panopticon sounds like a good band to check out. Listening to some clips of it and it does remind me a bit of Sufjan Stevens (like if he decided to go metal) since it sounds like there's flutes and banjo mixed in. Interesting stuff! I do like that hazy, fuzzy metal sound in bands like this. Alcest is one I like for those reasons!

One thing I've learned is that when it comes to black metal the fewer members in the band the better. I'm not sure why, but one to two man Black Metal bands always seem to blow full bands out of the water.
I've never heard of Sufjan Stevens, so I will be sure to check him out!
The highly distorted guitars are a staple of black metal... and shoegaze, which is like black metal if it weren't metal haha! To me they really add to the atmospheric qualities. Music like this will literally just enthrall me. Whenever I listen I just get swept away into the feelings and the ambiance. I have to be very careful if I try to listen to this while driving, as it has literally almost caused me to run off the road before. I just get that lost in it HAHA!

I do like shoegaze. Got into it with My Bloody Valentine and found a few other bands that fit the bill like Asobi Seksu (one of my favorite band names, it means casual sex in Japanese).
Sufjan Stevens is about as close to a favorite artist that I have. I've been listening to him for more than ten years. He did get a little recognition recently since he wrote the song about Tonya Harding for the movie that just came out about her. My favorite song of all time is his song "Djohariah", a 17 minute song about his sister and an abusive relationship she was in. I get goosebumps when I hear it.
Holy hell, when looking up Djohariah someone made a 10 hour looped guitar solo version of it. 10 hours. Whoa!
It really is a god damn beautiful song. I could honestly listen to all ten hours of this. Skipping to the end it actually does finish the song with the lyrics and all. Awesome.

I quite enjoy shoegaze, although I've not dedicated a lot of time to in depthly listening to it, which I need to fix, for sure!
I don't have a single favorite band or artist but I definitely have some top tier pics.
Obviously BTBAM and Panoticon, as I've mentioned before, but some others that I love would be The Acacia Strain, Periphery (Check ouy the song "Marigold" it's brilliant), and Arsonists Get All the Girls; to name a few.
One of my all time favorite songs is by The Acacia Strain and it is call "Observer". It's feking brilliant but be warned, it's 30 minutes long HAHA!

I've listened to Periphery before. I love bands that put out instrumental versions of their albums.
When it comes to rock and metal music I like the complex, intense, chaotic stuff. One of my favorite albums for intricate complex stuff is The Mars Volta's Frances the Mute. That's a really hard album to get into considering it barely has songs, it's just tons of movements strung together but god damn is it brilliant!
I definitely love long songs. My faves include:
"Infant Annihilator - Behold the Kingdom of the Wretched Undying" an intense as hell 17 minute track.
"Gorguts - Pleiades' Dust" 33 minutes
and my fave:
"Fantomas - Delirivm Cordia" which is over an hour long. Good times!
The Acacia Strain sounds pretty good from listening to some clips. That's right up my alley. May have to check them out!

You're literally the only other person I've met whose heard of Fantomas! Suspended Animation is my favorite album by them!
As for really long songs some favs are, as previously mentioned, Observer, but also
Silent Flight Parliment (Between the Buried and Me 15 Mins.)
Beyond the Veil (Abigail Williams 17 Mins)
Swim to the Moon (Between the Buried and Me, again 17 Mins)
Autothest Movement part 1,2 and 3 (The Faceless. This is one song that was split into three songs, to make it easier for listeners who aren't accustomed to listening to songs almost 20 minutes long. The band has confirmed it is one song, but they just chose to make it three tracks, so Imma count it)
Black Soot and Red Blood (Panopiton. Only 10 minutes, but still absolutely amazing)
A lot of people don't like The Acacia Strain because they aren't super technical, but I've always seen them as more of a droning doom metal type of band. Focusing more on creating an angry atmosphere then blowing out mind with complexity. They are my go to rock out band!

I love Fantomas! I'm a huge, and I mean huge, fan of Mike Patton. I seek out and listen to most of the projects he's involved in.
Suspended Animation was actually my first album from anything Mike Patton was in. The childlike exuberance is so charming! Love the packaging of that album, the whole calendar theme was great. I bought that album pretty close to when it came out, too!
My second favorite song ever is actually Mike Patton's rendition of Senza Fine. I have no idea how he manages to go from bands like Faith No More, Mr. Bungle and Fantomas to covering Italian classical music so well. One of the best artists out there. And he's the voice of the Darkness in the game!
I also love Cult of Luna. Their album "Mariner" with Julie Christmas is so great. Not too many metal albums with fantastic female vocals. It's all 8-15 minute tracks.
