These girls are very docile and harmless to humans. They hunt wasps. That is why we call them Wasp Spiders. In the States, we have a similar critter known as a Garden Spider.

This one you took a picture of is very fat. She is going to be mating soon. The females will eat the males after mating. Once she fills her egg sac and puts it in a safe place, she will drop to the ground and die. They live for only one year. In the spring, the younglings, about the size of dust motes, will emerge and balloon off to parts unknown...

Glad to be of service, Ma'am. It's what rangers do... This is an excellent picture of a really nice specimen. These beautiful orb weavers are found all over the world, and the abdominal markings will differ from place to place but they are almost always yellow and black. They all share the traits of being rather large spiders that spin really big webs.

Oh god, I've seen one like that once. The colours are beautiful but it kinda makes the spider scarier. It's still a cool picture though.
