Description
Broken fragments of a reflected soulLay mockingly at my feet.
What am I supposed to say?
What am I supposed to do
When reality is cruel
And shatters every fragile chance
Of grasping what could have been?
I am not saying that I knew you well
Or that I even knew your name
But I could see in you something different
And ultimately the same.
Frozen, helpless, lost in indecision
I hesitated.
Never said goodbye.
Perhaps I should have spoken up
Overcame the doubt.
But could you really blame me
When I saw in another,
What I saw in myself?
A hidden strength and a timid hope
So easily taken away…

I really like this. ^-^ I feel like it can apply to a lot of situations in reality, which can indeed be very cruel.

Very nicely written. The phrasing makes it seem slightly scattered and disjointed. It grates slightly and I think that is how it's supposed to be since that's how reality can be. There's a sense of lost hope and hollowness from a missed chance. I think a lot of people can relate to that which makes this poem very well written. Thanks for sharing it!

Why thanks you. My poetry tends to be rather depressing and questioning of reality.
(In fact, somewhere in my gallery is one called Reality that is focused entirely around that theme. The paradoxes of life and such.)
But thank you for reading!

Better to question it than to flow along without thinking.
You're welcome.
