Chip the Scrafty was enjoying a little game of peak-a-boo with James. The little toddler was a fun creature to play with. And Chip was happy to keep him occupied while Catt and Ryan were busy. At the moment to new parents where making breakfast and, and getting there morning chores done. Suddenly there was a loud commotion, that seem to emanate from the playroom.
Catt put down the mixing bowl that held the batter for waffles, and headed towards the sound. There were plenty of Pokemon around to help deal with pretty much anything that came up. But it was still prudent to check the situation. From where he was at in the kitchen, it sounded to Chip like some of the Pokemon had gotten into a squabble. Most likely it was Cry, and Rizzo at it again. They two were polar opposites. And so did not get along. But instead of being grown up about it, and keeping out of each others hair. They seemed to like noting more then to drive the other one up the wall. Chip didn't get it. And he didn't approve of their being allowed to work in the playroom. All their bickering did was disrupted the little ones routine and make them want to mimic what the see. But nobody asked Chip his opinion on the mater. He didn't work with the kids. He was responsible for helping keep the rest of the house running smoothly while Catt and Ryan were out taking care of the rest of the ranch. Though Cry strictly speaking wasn't supposed to be in the playroom. As she wasn't a caretaker. The Togetic didn't really do much at all to be honest. Except mop around and get into fights with that hyperactive Kecleon.
In his musing, Chip had lost sight of James. Just as he was about to go look for him. The little boy jumped on Chip's back like a little cat, and knocked the Scrafty down.
"I got you!" the toddler crowed triumphantly.
Chip let out a horrified cry for the boys benefit. Then he rolled onto his back, and started playfully pushing at the kid. The two wrestled for a few minutes. But broke apart as Catt came back into the room with Rizzo in her arms. He held a tissue to his forehead. Catt put him on a stool, and pulled a pack of peas out of the freezer, and applied it to his head. She then went back into the other room. A moment better latter she came back with Cry, went to the door, and put her out it. "If you can't me nice then you can't stay in the house." Catt told her. The she closed the door. She walked over to the kitchen sink and washed her hands. Then got back to making the waffles.
James poked Chip. "Look at that." He said. Pointing at a piece of paper on the floor by the door.
The two of them went over to it, and Chip picked it up. Rizzo tipped his head trying to see what they had without getting off the stool.
Chip realized that it was a flyer of some kind. It featured a drawing of a night sky with multi colored lights in a fountain shape. "Nation Fireworks Show" was emblazon in bright in neon letter across the top. Excited Chip and James carried the flyer over to Catt as she was waiting for a batch of waffles to cook.
"What's that?" She asked as she took it. "A fireworks show? Cool."
"Fireworks show?" asked Ryan as he came down the stairs and turned into the kitchen.
"Yeah, the boys just brought me this flyer." She told him, handing him the sheet of paper.
"Huh, it's taking place at the end of the week. Cool. Maybe we could go if we have time. We can make a day of it. Have a picnic, play some ball. What do you think Catt?" Ryan asked.
"Sounds like a good idea. I bet James would like it. Wouldn't you James?" Catt said, turning her attention to her adopted son.
"Yes!" He said then started bounding around excitedly. Then he stopped mid bound, and almost fell over. But Chip caught him, and the boy righted himself. "Can Chip come too?" He asked. His eye where large and pleading.
Catt and Ryan both smiled at the boy. James and Chip had really bounded since James came to live with them in May. The two where pretty much inseparable from the first. James had insisted that the Scrafty should sleep in his room. The two where like brothers almost.
"Of course sweetheart." Catt said. "Chip is a member of the family too."
Chip noticed that Rizzo was looking forlorn, Ryan noticed as well.
"You can come to, Rizzo.... If you can stay out of trouble." He said.
The strange looking Kecleon imminently perked up, his face stretched into a wide smile.
"Alright, now that we have that settled, lets eat before the waffles get cold." Catt said, putting a large plate of the delicious squares on the kitchen table.
Ryan helped James into his seat. And Catt handed him a cup of milk. Then they fixed plates for everyone. And sat down to eat their breakfast. . .
