This necklace has a story in it, and it's one of my favorites.

My family is South African, and when I was 8 we went back for a visit. While there, I got a long necklace and bracelet set made of seed beads. Sometime in the next year or so, it broke, and I put all the recovered beads in a plastic bag with the intent to fix it someday. Later, my mom brought back the two flag beads from a business trip (that's the 'new' South Africa flag, the Y-front), and the elephant came from a Christmas cracker. The pearls are cheapos, originally used just to space the elephant on its huge ring.

I finally realized last month that they would all look good together.
