Description
Rythian slumped his body up against the thick trunk of a twilight oak tree.
“Zoey! Where are you?!” He yelled. He cradled his broken arm and called out again. It had been two days since he had lost her in the thick jungle canopy. Monsters had come from all over and crowded his vision, and by the time he had cleared them out he was left alone, and injured in the dark again. He began walking again; he was headed towards another massive tree in the distance. It would take him a while but he was determined to find Zoey no matter how long it took.
“AAAAAhhh!!” A high pitch scream echoed throughout the jungle. Rythian sat still, before tracking the sound. He ran to his left, where a grove of oversized mushrooms stood tall. The screams continued, and Rythian grew more panicked with every step. He ran through a small stream of water and crossed over into an open plain. Rythian ignored the burning from his shins down, and searched around for Zoey. He spotted her bright red hair under a pile of crumpled wall. He ran over to her as fast as she could and began to uncover her.
“No! Stop it!” Zoey screamed. She pushed herself away from Rythian.
“Zoey?, what’s wrong?”
“It’ll find us! The Naga. Teep and I were looking for you and we found this place and now that thing is after us!” She harshly whispered. The wall she was hidden next to suddenly exploded into pieces. A giant green face turned and spotted them. Zoey screamed as Rythian pulled her to her feet. They began running as fast as they could back towards the mushroom biome.
“Keep heading west, the portal is a couple hundred blocks that way!”
“We’ll never make it to the portal in time!” Zoey’s eyes began to water. Rythian looked behind them, and watched as the Naga slithered after them. He looked back ahead of them and saw the beginning of a swamp biome approaching.
“Crap!” Rythian shoved Zoey ahead of him and into the swamp.
“Zoey the portal should be just beyond this swamp you’ll see the pillars near it. Get there as fast as you can!” Rythian stood on the land surrounding the swamp. He could hear the Naga approaching them fast. Zoey nodded and began trudging through the swamp as fast she could. Rythian began to run around along the edge of the swamp. The Naga chased after him, knocking down trees and destroying the landscape in his way. He looked ahead and spotted Zoey as she jumped into the portal. The burning feeling in Rythian’s legs began to flare up again, as he ran. His legs gave you from under him and he slid across the wet mud. He looked back as the Naga went in for the kill. A short shot of a gun stopped the Naga. And just before biting into Rythian, it turned around.
Rythian looked over and saw Teep high up in the trees with a sniper rifle aimed and ready to fire. Teep shot again, this time landing a headshot in its eye. The Naga wavered for a little bit before dropping dead into the swamp water.
“Thank you, Teep!” Rythian waved up to him. “Can you go find Zoey. She went through the portal.” Teep nodded and dropped down into the swamp, climbed out
He moved passed a couple of low trees and came into the clearing where the twilight portal lay on the floor. Rythian stood there, the wind blowing across his open wounds. And without a second thought he hopped in, not realizing he had went though someone else’s.
