“Quite a small one you are. You took my blood samples and fed me didn’t you? I just might kill you quicker than the others. No point in making you suffer.” She pulled her arms around her legs and tucked her head between her knees and cradled herself.

“Now, come one, don’t be like that.” He grabbed a fist full of her hair and pulled her up from behind the desk and walked her around. He pulled her head up to face him.

“So…pathetic” He juggled his butcher knife between his fingers and then held it firmly to her neck. Her breath hitched and her sobs stopped.

“You don’t have to worry I told you I’d make it quick.” He started to cut her throat and she panicked, turned and pushed him away before stumbling backwards out the door. He made a swipe at her with the cleaver , but only managed to cu ther arm. Adrenaline kicked in and she bolted down the hall. Lalnable emerged from the room a couple of seconds later.

“They always end up running and I don’t know why. Was it something I said?” He chuckled. “They always end up running themselves into a dead end.”

“Just let her go she’s already been scared sh*tless”

“But she’s left a blood trail straight to the security room.” He said pointing down the hall where drops of blood were splattered.

Meanwhile the small scientist ran towards the security room, the supposed safe zone to go to when something had gone bad within the facility. He knocked on the metal door.

“Xephos! Please anyone let me in!” She screamed. She began to cry when the door didn’t open after a couple of minutes but to her surprise it slid open. About 20 scientists stood crammed inside.
“Sorry about that we had to make sure he wasn’t right behind you” Xephos explained. She sniffled and wiped the tears from her eyes. Xephos grabbed her hands and examined the wounds He looked down at the floor and saw a small puddle under where she was standing. He looked down the hall and saw a trail leading up to her here.

“He wasn’t chasing you by any chance?” Xephos questioned. She nodded.

“Oh sh*t” Just as Xephos had said that a distant chuckle was heard at the end of the hallway and a blonde haired man stood on the other side.

“Get in hurry!” He yelled. The scientists inside shuffled around to make room for the new body and then slid the door shut.

“Somebody cover those damned windows that plexiglass won’t hold for very long.”

“Sir, it’s going to be hard for the average man to break through plexiglass with only just a knife. It should hold long enough for someone from the lower floors to get a gun from the armoury and make their way up here, or even one of the mechsuits.”

“Do you know how unstable those things are. We need this one alive anyways he has all the brains we need to operate the stuff here!”

“Knock Knock!” Lalnable yelled as he pressed his face up against the glass. A couple of the scientists screamed making him chuckle. He smeared some of the blood off his coat onto the glass making a large smiley face. He pressed his nose against the glass and moved his face down slowly. He chuckled at his own childish behaviour twitching slightly as he did so.

“REALLY? This is the mind that knows how to operate all of our gear!?” One of the scientists yelled out.

“I can disable this door in twenty minutes at most if I really wanted to, but what’s the fun in that. You haven’t updated them since I got here. My cell door on the other hand gets changes every other week. Do you thing we can change that Xephos?”

“You act like you know everything you psychopath, when you’re really just an idiotic man child who claims to know a thing about genetics what we do here!” The scientist cried out again. Xephos covered his mouth and pulled him to the back of the room.

“Do you realize what you’ve done!? You’ve killed us all! He hates being called an –!“ Xephos was cut off by the sound of shattering glass. He turned and looked at Lalnable who was holding Rythian’s glowing arm like a machine gun.

“ – idiot “

Lalnable stormed past everyone else and walked straight up to the scientist Xephos was whisper screaming at.

“Would you like to say that to my face without the plexiglass in the way?” Lalnable snarled.
