Description
Lalna pulled a small device out of his pocket and pressed the only button on it. A small glowing green keyboard popped up and he typed rapidly. A message popped up, not two minutes after he had sent his. Kim could see the glowing green words “On my way” on the device.“D-did you just tell Xephos that Rythian was here?”
“I might have.” Duncan said, slipping the device back into his pocket. “He told me a while ago that Yoglabs has been trying to contact him to see if they could get some samples of his mutated skin.” Kim looked down at her own arms, and chuckled nervously.
“Don’t worry, I’ve made a deal with Xephos to keep you safe for the mean time. All I have to do is help them with problems or get things they need at Yoglabs.” Lalna grinned. Kim smiled back at him and then took the elevator back down stairs. Lalna stepped outside and closed the door behind him. He knelt down in front of Rythian.
“I-I hate y-you. D-down to the very b-bone” Rythian took in deep breaths in an attempt to keep consciousness. Lalna smiled and shook his head.
“When they’re done Sjin and I will be sure to arrest you as soon as possible.”
“F*ck the magic police.” Rythian said. Lalna was now looking at a cloud of purple particles.
Rythian was now sprawled out under the nearest tree. His back burned like hell, and he felt so drained and weak that he couldn’t even stay away anymore. Lalna spotted him, and walked over to him. He was still breathing heavily even in his sleep. I can’t have you teleporting like that when you wake up. He searched through his inventory and pulled out a couple of pieces of sting. He braided them together and tied Rythian’s hands behind his back. He then ripped a piece of cloth from his labcoat off and tied it around his head so it covered his eyes.
“Duncan what are you doing to him?”
“It’s the only way to keep him from teleporting when he wakes up.”
“That’s cruel. Why can’t Xephos just ask him to talk? Do you really have to do this?”
“Rythian stays away from as many people as he can. He also hates science or any time of machinery. So he definitely wouldn’t even want to get close to Xephos in any way possible.”
“But-” Kim started.
“Look, Kim, I need you to go inside before Xephos comes.” Kim glanced at Rythian then turned her attention back to Lalna. She gave up and walked back into their base, to work on building nuclear weapons to use on hat films.
Lalna waited outside patiently for Xephos to come. He made sure Rythian stayed unconscious by feeding him a portion of weakness every hour or two. He eventually started to doze off himself as night approached.
“He’ll be a rather interesting subject.” Xephos said to the group of scientists behind him. Lalna’s eyes snapped open as he awoke. He saw Xephos standing in the dim light of the setting sun. He saw three of the scientists carrying Rythian to a van they had parked behind the building.
“Finally. You guys took bloody forever.”
“Well, it’s kind of hard traveling across miles and miles of rough terrain in a van. None of the other vehicles would hold all of us.”
Xephos replied as he smiled and stretched out. “Hey, how is Kim doing have you gotten all the flux off of her? That stuff could kill her you know.”
“Kim? She’s completely fine now.” Lalna stammered. Xephos lifted and eyebrow.
“Whatever you say, friend.” Xephos nodded to him and got back into his white van, and drove off. Lalna went back inside and saw Kim peeking out the large window.
“Could they have gotten the flux off me Duncan?” Kim questioned him.
“I doubt it. Not even I have been able to get it off. That stuff’s flowing through your blood; it’d be impossible to remove without removing a bunch of your blood and replacing it quickly. This could kill you if not done properly.” Kim looked down at her scaly, luminous arms.
“Well let’s get back to working.” She muttered.
“Kim, I would it’s just… The other experiments I have done in the past, with dangerous elements like this, have hurt the people around me.”
“How?” She turned and looked up at him.
“I’ll...I'll take you to Yoglabs one day and show you. They have files on the things I have created. One of them is still alive right now; locked up in a tight security cell.”
