Description I built this as a gift for my cousin who really likes Charlie Chaplin. Keepsake boxes are usually used to store pictures, mementos, or letters...

Details
- I made the design so the box would look like a book. (A pretty basic form, really.)
- Used knotty pine for the boards, dowels for joinery.
- Etched a Chaplin silhouette with a big needle (like in kindergarten ), then carved with an electric drill.
- Painted in two stains, Walnut and Cherry to have some contrast.
- Added the 'retro' hinges and decorative corners afterwards, plus a magnet for fastening.
- Drew it on Google Sketchup to keep the measurement details.

I just love it.
I adore Chaplin, and I would love to have a box like that
