Yeah, on my old camera purple colors often wouldn't show up properly (they would appear blue even in all the manual modes), although I haven't tried with my new camera I bought 2 days ago.

Maybe YOU'RE a conspiracy? Lots of cameras have trouble rendering some shades of purple properly, but I should be able to fix that with the custom white balance setting on my new one.
