There was very little change in The Artist from his original form in Stix. He is still a giant pencil, creator of the world, and occasionally interacts with his creations. The biggest change was the decision for him to be the only part of the comic in color. Since he exists in the real world, while everything else in the comic is a pencil drawing.

There are several other webcomics to blame for giving me the idea of a "creator of the comic" character, but I try to not use The Artist very much. Having an omnipotent character hanging around would get boring quickly, as he could solve anything. And while it was a bit deus ex machina of him to show up near the end of the Open Pad Arc, I feel like we see the appropriate amount of him.
