Description
I read an article about creating HDR images, and i wanted to give it a try. I shot five images with 2EV difference between each, and put them together in my computer. I think it turned out well, the range of contrast is big, both the sky and the building has lots of detail.[EDIT] The source images can be seen here: [link]

Yeah, love these! I have the software already sitting on my computer and tried some myself but I definately need a real tripod for this, the small one is not stable enough and trying to make the photos overlay correctly is a real pain ...

You should try it I used a small clamp that i fastened in the balcony railing, so i don't think you need a very sturdy tripod.

It's more the size of my tripot. I have a small pocket one which is ok for night shots but not very good in holding a position while changing settings on the camera. But maybe I should try that clamp setup of yours

Awesome! Did you use the HDR feature in photoshop CS2 to put them together?

No, a different software, but it's the same kind of processing as the HDR in photoshop.

so, this balances the exposure between the sky and other subjects?
would you mind posting the 5 originals in your scraps, so I might have a look at an actual example. Because this sounds awesome.
The shot looks great by the way, almost surreal for some reason.
I think the reason it looks surreal is because this is how a human eye would see this shot.

Nice shot !
Yes it's a good way to create huge images ! I use this technique to make 360° panoramas.

CerebralCortex In reply to atreyu64 [2007-01-07 20:34:35 +0000 UTC]
I don't think the techique i have used here is for making panorama pics, the thing is to take several pictures of the very same thing, but with different exposure and to combine them to get a bigger dynamic range, here you can see my source images: [link]
I did not use this to get a huge image, just to get the higher dynamic range in that one wide angle photo.

Indeed, this has nothing to see with panoramas, I misunderstood your comment, sorry about that ! I am french so it's not so easy for me... But I have understood your technic by seeing the sources images. Anyway the result looks great !
