OMG babies!!??? Newbs of all sorts: babies and parents...Yeah. This was for ~Megcull who asked 100 years ago for some cute baby-parenting scenes with the Astrid/Hiccup and Ruffnut/Fishlegs pairings...mostly based off my writings.
It was perfect because this is going to make her head explode from cuteness, I'm in a hypothetical children phase anyhow, and now I can plug the two stories about the babies. [Svenan the younger at top, Frostbite at the bottom]
Oh and by the way it is bitch hard to draw a newborn baby because they look like old men and it's really awkward to be looking up newborn baby on google and have hundreds of refrences to look through while your boyfriend walks by and gives you a bunch of

So to say, he slumped off, relieved that my biological clock hadn't sprung it's alarm but my nerd points sky-rocketed in his book [not necessarily a good thing, lol].

Y'know, neither Astrid or Ruffnut automatically strike me as the 'maternal' sort. I'd bet that pregnancy was one long angst-fest of "How can I do this? I have no idea how to do this!" Then the babies were born and, suddenly, it all seemed to work itself out.
Beautiful work. The characters were instantly recognisable. You got the babies looking right too.

I know, they do not strike as ones with maternal instinct! I did a series of fanfictions about their lives after the movie and going through those and into the actual chapters where these babies appear it;'s not so WTF?OOC!
But you have a point that with your 9-months-of-angst. As you can even read in the chapter about Ruffnut's 9 months, Fish had to be a total champion to deal with her even through his own apprehensions.
I think though, yeah once a baby pops out there's an inherent maternal instinct in those ladies, they are just so relieved it's over and will do anything to protect and care for that thing they gave nine months of their life to carrying.

The baby Frostbite is adorable. In fact, all of these characters are drawn delightfully. My only critique would be the size of Fish's nose, which I think is a teeny bit too big.
Despite that though, I looooove it!

When I sit down to draw Fishlegs, I always think his one defined facial aspect is his bulbish nose, so sometimes I overdo it while still trying for a middle ground between less-cartoon and more realish style.

Ha, ha. Well, he's definitely the type to be an overly doting father. Him and Hiccup both are definitely like that. They married strong willed women so one in each couple needs to be the softie.

Yeah I was actually drawing the Astrid-Hiccup one first and then got that request to do Svenan's birth scene so I wrote it to fit the picture for once, not the other way around.
Ruff is just like...exhausted but she finally has her baby and she didn't die! Oh and I purposely made Fishlegs do the ':meow': face lol
