Say hello to Emily, my first ever Pokémon OC! (If you can call her that; she’s 90% self-insert).

Emily is certainly a unique individual. She is very intelligent (in the book way), but the way she acts you wouldn’t expect it. A combination of absent minded, intellectual, curious, playful, silly, and emotional, she’s a walking theater. While not a drama queen, her emotions constantly show through and are usually to one extreme or the other. Still these attitudes are usually cheerful as her nature is very carefree. Emily is very quiet among strangers until a topic in which she is interested comes up. Then, she becomes extremely outgoing and friendly. She likes being right and hates being wrong, as it makes her feel stupid. She’s very prideful, and while she wouldn’t admit it she feels somewhat superior to most of the people she knows.

Emily came to the Ohana Islands on her way to Unova. She just left for her journey to become a Pokémon trainer a month ago, and, although hailing from Johto, wanted to get as far from there as possible. Unfortunately, due to unfortunate circumstances, she was broke on arrival. You see, she’d found it would be cheapest to get to Unova if she broke the journey in two and stopped at the Ohana Islands first. While ordering her tickets, however, she was eating a delectable donut and talking with food in her mouth. Thus, the cashier misheard her and gave her tickets to Hoenn. She spent a week there before coming to the Ohana Islands… only to find she no longer had the money to purchase a trip to Unova, nor the Pokémon to fly or surf the distance.

She hunted for a job while trying to avoid tourist traps (and mainly failing). Thankfully, the upcoming tournament needed workers, so she was hired to sell candy to the folks up on the Observation Deck of the Sky Reach Tower.

The moral of the story? Listen when your mother tells you not to talk with food in your mouth.

Biscuit was Emily’s first Pokémon. Her egg was given to Emily as a sort of consolation prize when she turned ten, since Emily’s mother wouldn’t allow her to leave for her Pokémon journey until age sixteen. Despite Emily’s bitter feelings over this, she and Biscuit have became closely bonded. Their personalities are almost mirrors of one another, although Biscuit is a bit more mischievous and playful and a lot more naïve. Whether they were meant for each other or their personalities melded together over time is uncertain, but they’re the perfect example of a close bond between human and Pokémon. She never goes into a Pokeball, and if Emily has one for her it is lost or broken and probably will turn up some day folded into a sock.

Tea
♂ Growlithe
Level 21
Tea was acquired rather by chance right before Emily left Johto. While at the docks, she saw the stray Growlithe and gave him a treat. He followed her, so she gave him another, and another, and another… In the end, he followed her onto the ship headed for Hoenn and became her quiet companion. He never makes a sound and often has a blank look on his face. Emily isn’t sure if he’s completely “with it”, as he often does things that seem strange to her. Of the three, however, Tea has the most common sense. His odd behavior is often him attempting to communicate and failing. In any case, Emily doesn’t know much about him yet, but he always follows her heels loyally. While she did “catch” him, she doesn’t feel the need to put him in a Pokeball.
