Description
Resigned, Gwen waits in Complex 18A's infamous "Cafeteria" for yet another session of extra punishment. She's been here seven times since her arrival so she knows what to expect and to not buy in to the ambiance of fear. If this round is like the others, she'll be whipped, then locked for two to five days in a hot box or a punishment cage. They've been pretty predictable. For Gwen, the worst thing is having to wait, sometimes for hours, for someone to get to her and get it all over with.
NOTE: This is the first time I've posted a drawing here that I photographed rather than scanned. I also rendered this picture on special drawing paper instead of copy paper-- but not Bristol paper, I'm saving that.
The result is a darker image than what I'm used to with scanning. It took a good amount of adjusting using I-Photo. But I'll be working to perfect the process with future pictures. Also, for comparison, I also scanned the picture like I used to, and I've posted that version in Scraps fav.me/d6vmbd4

Well, I'm sure you'll be unsurprised to know that I love this image. The girl in the poster is hilarious (would love to see just her someday, kicking and jerking in that shirt until she has served her sentence), and I am sure more puns can be found to enforce the "climate of fear".
"Whipping you into shape" (flagellation)
"Don't be shocked at what happens if you disobey" (electricity)
Yeah, they're bad.

I can just imagine the "Cafeteria" walls covered with torn and yellowing posters with those taglnes.

I do love those demotivational poster jokes.
I am thinking of this tagline in particular, with a girl in some horrible situation and everyone watching her:

Brilliant! Take trite optimism and give it a hard twist.

Pretty much.
A girl being garotted while watched by a crowd of prisoners is definitely someone whose life is an example to others, surely?

looks good. I may be biased, but I like the photographed version better than the scanned version. you can see a greater nuance in color.

Thanks. There's still some technique and technical issues to work through, especially lighting. Now I am convinced it's do-able, though. I know the Bristol paper will be better, but this drawing paper (which I almost forgot I had) is okay. It's got an interesting texture to it that could work well with certain subjects and styles. And I was able to erase without leaving a lot of ruts.
