No, the world is, in fact, not doomed. Babs is only a jerk to them in order not to get bullied, right? Well, as an alicorn, she could easily claim that she's a princess who was spying on them and that if they continue to be jerks, that she can tell Celestia to punish them. Then she could easily be friends with Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle.
