Description
Outside of the Cathedral was an arch made from the jawbones of 2 whales. The islands had no native inhabitants, and during their early colonization, whaling was one of the prime incomes of the region. This eventually gave over to sheep herding, which provided wool that clothed British soldiers during WWII and other wars. With the growing popularity of synthetic materials, the wool industry has tapered off, and though there are still sheep farms on the islands, must farmers must supplement their income with other work.
