Every day I reach out,Stretch and grasp at straws,
Inch closer and closer as you pull away.
I follow the shards of ice.
Each arctic glance swallows me whole, pale and weak,
And churns me back out broken.
You hide and I seek, ever more desperate,
Searching for a glimpse of your warmth,
Finding nothing but swirling blizzard.
I yearn to be closer,
But I know you will not melt
