Houmas House Plantation in Darrow, Louisiana.

My favorite place in the entire world. I return here every time I visit home. In its current state, the house itself was built in 1829 and is currently owned by a wonderful man named Kevin Kelly who has restored it to its former glory. Interesting note: the house was spared during the Civil War as its owner at the time, the famous John Burnside (an Irishman), claimed British citizenship and neutrality from the war. Due to his quick thinking, the Union soldiers overlooked the house and we thankfully still have this beautiful piece of history.
