This looks very good. The combination of the drawing, the background colours and the line in the upper part work together very well. At first, I didn't notice the script and when I did, it seemed almost to be an afterthough to add to the picture since it isn't immediately obvious but the clean line nonetheless makes it almost impossible to overlook at the same time.
I also like that you chose 'ache' instead of simply ' pain' because it is a beautiful word and has a greater impact (on me at least).

Wonderful analysis.
I leave you with a few thoughts: here is an idiom in French where "to throw away the pipe" means "to kick the bucket", which in turn means "to die".
Ache is both physical and emotional. It is written in white. What is intellectual aching?
And of course, how falsely aching is the intellectual society?

You know, your comments are almost as interesting as the artwork itself.
Now I'm thinking of the reverse of the idiom you mention namely the person in your picture still holding the pipe and the pipe smoking with 'ache' written in the smoke (ergo white) so that eventually I end up with the conclusion that ache is human because feeling ache is (part of) being alive.
Yes. I do love analyzing.

Things not alive or non-existing cannot feel ache.
You get a for that.

huh, i never thought of it that way but that's a good point. I guess without ache we would never feel pain, and then the numbness could be the same way.
