It's about a group of kids (or the 'flock'
The book starts during the period after that white coat vanished. Max (the leader of the flock) and the others are being tracked down by other experiments that are part wolf, called Erasers. Throughout the book the flock is trying to get more info about how/why they got taken into the School while the Erasers are trying to bring them back.
