Description The musical "Elisabeth" is (c) Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay. Please feel free to correct me if something is wrong or missing.

You've got me, there will be another two and a half little Elisabeth parodies. The reason: a few weeks ago I heard a CD with the music of "Tanz der Vampire" for the first time. It inspired me to do some parodies about this musical as well, just like I did it with Elisabeth ... and on this way I had new ideas for Elisabeth itself again, and felt the urge to draw them, too.

Weeell - it seems to me the role of the Death looks from stage show to stage show very differently. Compare him p.e. to Webber's Phantom - that chap seems to be more or less pretty much the same, no matter where.
"Vienna 1992" was the very first Death. Very androgynous, very blonde :3, very spheric - which also affected his relationships to the humans. "Essen 2001" (Essen is a German city) was the second version of the Death played by the same actor, Uwe Kroeger. Essen-Death had far more testosterone , his looks and behaviour more dominant-dynamic, a more "normal", human man. But those two are only the tip of the iceberg! There was also Death played by another musical star, Mate Kameras - and again he was interpreted a bit differently- and also a Death played by a popular ... German folk music star, then of course all those Deaths played by members of the Japanese Takarazuka group, and the Deaths from eastern-european productions, and a Swiss Death dressed in red...and...! From those I am mentioning here I've seen at least some photos, or/and I heard a bit about their performances. As mentioned, all of them turn out as more or less differently. 'Til today I can't say for sure if I actually like that many versions or not, but it is surely very interesting.
How would it look like if the different Deaths would meet each other? Would they feel sympathy or...? You see my idea of a meeting between two of them.

Sympathy ... what I don't like at all is if someone picked a favourite Death -that's no problem- and starts proclaiming all the other versions are s***. Seems like there were some fights especially between the devotees of Mr Kroeger and Mr Kameras - or at least those are the fights I personally came across the most. Sorry for the harangue, but - oh, people, to have a personal number one and to have arguments for him is no problem, but it is always lousy to insult others.

...My personal favourite? Is quite clear when you read my comments on my older Elisabeth parodies.

Uwe and Mate both have their merits, and Der Tod is such a free and ambiguous concept that different interpretations are part and parcel with the character. As long as he/she is fearful, and swoon-worthy, in some way, I am content.

OMG I both Uwski and Mate!!!! Picking a favourite Death? Why bother? I would lock them all in one room with me

Although that would inevitably end with them bothering me into letting them out . . . I am not sure who is more bothersome and persistent - Death or me But if there were so many of them they would definitely be more bothersome

Although I love Viennese Death (both Uwe and Mate of course), to be honest, I am not overly fond of his white outfit . . . I prefer the black one, probably because of all the frills.

As already hinted, personally I like the very first Vienna Death the most, but I am fine with other favourites as well - or even if people have more than one.

"(...)to be honest, I am not overly fond of his white outfit . . . I prefer the black one, probably because of all the frills."
For me, the thick make-up was at the very first moment far more problematic than the outfits. But I most say I developed a liking for it.

The thick makeup is strange but I think it works with the character, because he's supposed to be unsettling . . . Normally I wouldn't like it, but it suits him.

Because surprisingly many are asking for it I guess I'll do another one in the nearer future. Don't expect it toooo soon, but I'll hope I'll get it still done in 2012. Will be about Rudolph and Death again, I think.

That would be a really interesting meeting... They're all so very different, and I still don't even know every one of the versions. It would be funny to see how they would fight each other for Elisabeth. XD
Hm, I've seen some comments on Youtube so I believe I know what you're talking about. There's some fans of Uwe who bash peolpe who prefer Mate, and vice versa. Personally I don't like Mate's performance but it's just my opinion, and of course there's people out there who love and prefer him. People just need to learn to respect each other.
And I hope you post more Elisabeth comics/parodies in the future, you have a really good sense of humor and your drawings are adorable. <3
