i kinda wasted my afternoon drawing this, but after i saw this weeks japanese splatfest, i couldnt help but poke fun at itin concept? sure, its not a terrible splatfest. but when you consider that callie and marie announce these things and inklings take part in them... yeah
so heres my waste of time for you guys today! :>
i promise, ill actually upload something that isnt a silly doodle thing soon. i started drawing something last night, and ill finish it today, but i just really had to do this comic when i heard about that splatfest
meanwhile, i think we're still waiting for our splatfest to be announced here in europe, but i last checked a few hours ago, so i dunno
but in other news! :0
the octoling in the last panel is a very minor reference to the plaza octoling thats been going around and messing up a few peoples games recently. i mean, it fits with the comic as well, but mostly, its a reference to the "octo-invasion" that kind of consumed the splatoon community for a little while, haha

The Dutch Wikipedia claims that squids aren't above cannibalism. Also, I think that Marie mentioned in the American version of Splatoon that "salted squid is a delicacy in some places". So, this Japanese Splatfest might not be as weird as we think it is.
I wonder what our European Splatfest is going to be about. Usually, it's announced at the same time as the American Splatfest, but not this time. Also, America's Splatfest is now at almost the same time as the Japanese Splatfest, instead of a week later. So, I'm afraid we in Europe might have to wait another week before we know what our Splatfest theme is.

thats a good point! :0 as well as that, considering this is a society far into the future, long after the extinction of humans, they possibly wouldnt have the same sorts of taboos and stuff that we do. looking at it in that sense, i agree that the splatfest might not actually be that strange. which is kind of a relief, really, because i like to look at the splatoon world in an at least semi-realistic manner, haha
but in terms of the european splatfest, that seems like it might be the case, sadly
i mean, as long as we actually get a splatfest, its not really any big deal (and even if we dont get one, its not the end of the world or anything :d). but i am still curious to see what ours is! :0
