When I first drew this girl, it was strictly for practice, and besides that, I wanted to draw a Quarian. I ended up with a random nameless Quarian girl in my sketchbook with no one to give her to!So I said to ~JellicleKitten , "I have a nameless Quarian girl in my sketchbook. Would you like her?"
She said yes, and thus, this girl became her Quarian Neera. XD
Neera belongs to ~JellicleKitten . Quarians belong to Bioware.

I've heard everything from a deer-like furry to a gooey worm thing in a humanoid bio-mechanical suit.

It would make sense for them to perhaps be somewhat anthropomorphic, but I don't think they would necessarily look canine. Oddly, something like the critters in that "Avatar" movie maybe, only not... blue. I may take a stab at what they look like under the mask later on... hm...

Actually something about their stance, voice and so on makes me think rather than canine *or* lupine, instead, scurine or musteline. (Squirrel or skunk)
