You sigh sitting in the living room on the couch, as you were spacing out. You had your arms wrapped around under your thighs, squeeze against them as you lay your chin to your knees. It's been two weeks since that whole escapade with Brad, and you were still feeling rather depressed about the whole thing. "You idiot... how could you not tell he was seeing someone on the side??" Sighs. You weren't sure what made you feel more embarrassed, that fact he cheated or turned out to be gay. "Oh well, at least I don't have to see him in Choir since they kicked him out. I guess I should be thankful for the good friends I have at least." You let out a groan releasing yourself from your hold and face planted against the cushions.

Hiro and Tadashi were peeking into the living room from the top staircase, as they whisper back and forth to each other. "She's been depressed for a while now, [y/n] hasn't even left the house unless it's for school," Hiro said, furrowing his brows as his lips were pressed together still angry about the whole thing, as his chest was pressed against the corner of the wall peeking.

"Yeah I know, I wish we could do something. Anything to get her out of the house. I tried calling Deanna and Katie but they've both been too busy with their own family things." Tadashi sighs, he was still in deep thought of a plan as he peers over his brothers' shoulder looking out at (y/n).

"Hey, I know! (Y/n) really loves Aunt Cass sweets, maybe I can get her to bake some for after dinner tonight. That has to at least put a smile on her face right? Who doesn't enjoy aunt Cass handmade sweets" Hiro perks up at his own idea, ''Yeah we can make her favorite cookies.'' Nodding with his arms cross, as if he was giving himself a pat on the back congratulating his idea.

"Hey that's not a bad idea, I guess you can use that big brain for something after-all.'' He says with his lips twisting slightly up in a settle smile. ''Why don't you go downstairs and ask her right now. Maybe while you're at it ask if we can make (y/n)'s favorite for dinner too." Tadashi runs his hand playfully though his younger brother's hair messing his already wild main even more.

"This will be great, Aunt Cass has been worried about (y/n) too." After those words had left Hiro's lips he went dashing to the other side while quickly 'fixing' his hair and made his way down the staircase.

"While he's doing that, maybe I can talk her into leaving the house." Tadashi starts making his own way towards the couch where (y/n) lays pouting still. He smirks as he looks down at her, setting his hands on his hips. "Hey, enjoying a nice view of the couch's pattern?" He said, trying to poke fun at her in hopes of getting a reaction.

"Hah hah, so funny Tadashi. In Fact, I am, I really admire the intricate design. It sort of reminds me of a vintage look." You say, muffled by the couch cushions almost in a very serious tone in chords to his teasing.

"Oh really? That's a very interesting opinion since the couch is a plain dull green." Tadashi said, crossing his arms as he chuckles softly.

"Uggh" You goan, slowly tearing yourself from the comfort of the couch, sitting up straight. You blink at him once, giving him a rather plain expression. "What do you want Hamada? Can't you just let me suffer in peace and over exaggerate like any other teenager."

"Nope, sorry I've come to bug you and I plan on winning." Tadashi, chuckled a bit at her comment as he goes to sit next to her.

"I already told you and Hiro I don't feel like leaving the house. For at least a month like any other over exaggerated teen" You pouted, crossing your legs and arms.

"Really? Not even if I told you Aunt Cass was doing to make your favorite dish and dessert tonight?" He smirks raising one eyebrow at her.

Your eyes brighten a little at the news, but you return quickly to a pout again. although inside you were as excited as a little kid. "R-Really? Well, I guess I could go out shopping if she really needs me too." You unconsciously start to drool a little thinking about aunt Cass famous baking skills.

"Well, it's a little more than just a quick shopping and coming back." Tadashi cheeks darken a little as he scratched at the back of his neck, trying to play it off. "Look you've been inside for two weeks already unless you're going to school. So, if you really want to have your favorite dishes then you have to spend one day outside, until dinner."

"What's the real catch?" You said, raising an eyebrow as you eyed him curiously.

"You have to spend the day with me-" He said, only to be cut off by the younger Hamada.

"And Me," Hiro says, walking up to them both. As the Hamada brothers give each other a strange quick look [y/n] couldn't really place.

"Well.." You said, thinking it over as you rocked back and forth lightly in your seat. "I guess I never really got to thank you guys for helping me out that night, and the next day when I was really depressed or the day after that... So spending the day with my two favorite boys doesn't sound too bad." You smile, looking down at your lap feeling a bit of happiness swell within your chest.

"Favorite boys?" Both Hamada's said blushing a bit.

"Yeah, You guys have really been great to me since my parent's death and living here. You two have helped me in a lot of ways, and I guess I never took the time to thank you for that." You say, finally hopping off the couch and doing a quick stretch. "So spending the day and having a little date with you both doesn't sound too bad. Besides Tadashi's right, it's time I get off my butt. Stop being that topic dumped depressed teenager" Although you really were happy, you still felt slightly hurt inside.

"Great!" Tadashi said, almost shouting as he bounced on his feet nearly to stand up. "Go get ready and we'll wait for you downstairs, I'll ask Aunt Cass if we can take the truck."

"Hey I heard there's a small spring festival going on a few blocks away from here, we should go. It's been a while since we went, I kinda miss going with Aunt Cass. She use to take us when she wasn't so busy with the cafe." Hiro said, smiling shyly as he shoves his hands into his shorts pockets.

"That sounds great! It's been a few years since I've gone to one! I'll go get ready right now!" You said, raising your own voice as you run up to your shared room with Aunt Cass to get ready. It's been a while since you've been this excited about something, you hurry pulling clothes out of the drawer and hopping in the shower.

"Hey what's the big idea, I was going to take (y/n) out." Tadashi said, shooting a glare over at this younger brother.

"What's the big idea? I should be the one saying that! I thought we're doing teamwork here to help (y/n), then you just go off and try to steal the show by saying it was all your idea. Besides I want to hang out with her too, you're not the only one who wants to see her smile again ya' know." Hiro said, scuffing looking away as he crossed his arms and headed back downstairs.

"Fine, fine no fighting today. It's all about (y/n), we're suppose to be making her feel better." Tadashi says, still eying his brother as he follows shortly behind him.

"Yeah, yeah" Hiro says, still pouting like a child who was about to get left behind.

Tadashi rolls his eyes as he walks over behind the counter to talk to aunt Cass about their plans for today. After agreeing on a time to be home by, he took the truck keys and some money for the fair. By this time (y/n) had started making her way downstairs.

"Sorry for the wait guys, lets' go. Bye, aunt Cass! Thanks for today!" You shouted on the way out with the Hamada brothers. As all three of you squeeze into the truck as you let out a happy sigh, feeling refreshed and in a good mood for once.

"Alright, guys seat belts." Tadashi said, having his on already he starts the car and after waiting for the two he gets the car moving.

-Skip to the Spring Fair-

"Slow down you guys!" Tadashi shouted as he looks off to the side at them running into the fairgrounds, then quickly turning to the person in the booth as he takes the tickets he paid for. "Thank you." He says, quickly running to catch up with them. "You guys need to be a little more patience! Anyways, (y/n) you can pick the first ride and/or booth you want to go to." He smiles looking over at her.

"Hmm, that's a hard one... I really want to ride the twister before the line gets any bigger but, I also want to go to the food booths." You said tapping your finger against your chin deep in thought.

Tadashi scuffles a laugh as he crossed his arms smiling."Really? We just got here and you're already thinking about food."

"Hey! Don't look at me with your judging eyes judgey jury, Hmph. I haven't eaten yet today so am hungry." You say pouting some as you crossed your arms in response.

"Then let's do both!" Hiro says already running to head to the food booths area. Towards the chili fries and dogs.

"Yeah! First one to barf on the twister gets last to pick a ride" You say laughing evilly almost as you follow Hiro.

"Oh perfect, that's totally what I wanted to do today. Barf on the twister" Tadashi says sarcastically as he followed them both with the corner of his lips now nearly pulling down at the thought.

"Haha c'mon Tadashi don't be a downer, besides didn't you want to cheer me up." You said nudging his side with your elbow and a mischievous smile on your face.

He says resting both hands on his hips."And watching me barf today will make you feel better?"

"C'mon bro why do you have to kill all the fun out of it." Hiro said teasing his older brother.

"Hmm well, we are going to have a pretty big meal for dinner anyways so.. Just one chili dog?" You shrug a little, trying to meet in the middle.

"Alright if that's what you guys want" Tadashi sighs, running his hand over his hair giving in to both of them. "This is such a bad idea though." Suddenly he smirks, "Because I know Hiro's going to lose." He laughs making his way into the food line.

Thankfully for the wait wasn't too long and all of you were able to quickly get your food. After Tadashi pays and hands both you, Hiro the food; you all eat on the way to the twister. The wait for the twister was just as long as you dreaded it would be, so to pass the time all three of you play rock-paper-scissors. Hiro and you crush Tadashi.

"This is boring, besides we're almost next." Tadashi said scowling as he looks down at his yet again defeated hand for the fifth time.

"It's not my fault you suck at this" Hiro laughs, mocking his older brother. "I can't help it that I'm just better than you at some things."

"I don't think being good at rock-paper-scissors is something to be proud of." He said looking at him with a blank face that quickly turned annoyed at his brother's cockiness.

"Hahaha okay boys break it up, we're next! Let's go!" You said running past them, as you jump into the nearest seat. Hiro runs in after you taking your left side, leaving Tadashi with your right side. The staff lady comes around locking everyone in and making sure everything was secure before starting the ride up slowly. You were nearly bouncing in your seat as you fidget waiting for it to get faster and crazier.

"Haha wait for it, the ride just started. Do you really like being thrown around like a rag doll that much?" Tadashi teased with one of his charming playful smirks.

"Wouldn't you like to know Hamada." You said, smirking as you wiggle your eyebrows being weird.

Tadashi gulped, as a deep red creep into his face not expecting that response from (y/n). His eyes got a little wide as he shrinks back into his seat. Hiro overhearing the comment, eyes also went ride as he was thrown off he leans against the side a little. You bust out laughing holding your stomach. "HAHAHA I love your guys face, you should totally see it rig- NOW" you paused but tried to finish your sentence shouting it nearly, as the ride starts getting more rough and faster. You and the boys were being pressed and slammed against one another. "Ohff hahaha ow my sides." You said, laughing enjoying the ride as the wind tossed your hair around you shut your eyes tight.

"Crap now that's all I can think about now." Tadashi thought, staying quiet for the rest of the ride with his head down still blushing. Almost ashamed of his own thoughts.

"What the hell does she mean by that!?" Hiro thought, as he grips the handlebar tightly and stiffens his shoulders with cheeks red like his brothers.

The ride slowly stops and the staff lady comes to unlock you three, freeing you to jump right out of your seat. "That was great! Haha pretty lucky either one of us barf huh? Although it would have been kind of funny if one of us did."

"H-hah heh yeah totally." Hiro said slightly nervous as he ruffled up his hair in the back with a hand and the other in his pocket.

Tadashi clears his throat some as he spoke up. "Well uhh, Hiro why don't you pick the next ride for us."

"Sure! I have just the one in mind already." He said with a childlike grin.

"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" Tadashi mumbles to himself as he followed his brother who was now running off with (y/n) already.

Hiro leads all three of them up to the bumper cars. "Ta-da!"

"I love bumper cars! Oh and there's nearly no line either, you guys are dead!" You said practically as excited as a child. You run up to the gates to hand over your ticket.

"Yup I was right." Tadashi says with a small chuckle.

"What's wrong Tadashi do you really hate them that much?" You peered back over to him to tease him. "Fear Hiro and I will team up and beat you again? Haha.." You laugh mischievously.

"Oh trust me, you will understand after this. Hiro may be mature for his age, but he turns into the devils' child on this ride with no mercy.." He stated.

"Hey!" Hiro shouted offended. "It's bumper cars! Not drive around like your granny!"

"Uhh.." You suddenly felt a loss for words, as you saw a flash of little Hamada competitive spirit.

"Whenever we're little and Aunt Cass use to take us here all the time, Hiro would always go wild. Once he pushed me into a corner for the WHOLE ride." Tadashi says annoyed at the memory, as he looked over at his younger brother with a raised eyebrow that a parent would give almost. There was truly no other way to describe it.

You laugh a little, trying to hide your wary look as you turn your back to look for a car. "Well let's try and have fun, it is Hiro's turn to pick after all. Let's just remember it's a game, Hiro." You say getting into a purple car.

"Yeah, Yeah let's go!" Hiro said, jumping into a red car all excited.

"I guess since we're older it shouldn't be that bad." Tadashi says, buckling into a black car.

The buzzer goes off for everyone to start and everyone starts going crazy crushing as hard as they could into just about anyone. Everyone is driving after each other laughing and having a good time with strangers, at some point everyone started playing tag til the buzzer went off again for everyone to stop.

"Bye, everyone! Haha, great game of tag." You wave to everyone as you all were getting off the ride, as everyone was saying bye to each other and saying what a great time that was. "See not so bad right?" You said, bumping the older Hamada brother from the side.

"Haha yeah yeah, let's see where to next..." Tadashi thought, but not before long something came to mind as you all were getting off the ride. He starts leading the group to the area where all the game booths were. One of the booths was a popping balloons game, that had giant stuff plush's animals as the prize. "It's so big! I MUST have it!" You spotted a panda, saying with the upmost determination as you go digging into your pockets for a ticket. "What, no way! I'm out of tickets." You smack your lips.

"I have one more left." Both brothers say while digging in their pockets, as they pull it out they then look at each other.

"Why don't I try first then, you can try if I fail" Tadashi suggests to his brother.

"Why do you get to try first?" Hiro scowls, looking up at his older brother with arms cross and ticket still in hand.

"Why don't you both work together? One ticket gets two tries, Both of you can work together, going back and forth." You try suggesting cutting in.

"Hm, Sure but I'm totally going to win." Hiro says, picking his shoulders up high as he smirks. "I'm totally going to be the one to win that Panda for her."

"Whatever dork." Tadashi smiles, walking over to the booth and handing over his ticket first. "That's what you think, but I got this one in the bag. I was the champion at booth games. Someone seems to have forgotten who won all his toys for him."

"Yay, Panda!" You exclaim obliviously walking closer to the booth, standing between the two brothers.

Tadashi goes first, then Hiro was the one to managed to win it. "Thanks so much, Hiro! You're the best!" You say taking the plus from him as you kiss his cheek to show thanks.

"Heh yeah, it was no problem (y/n)." Hiro says a little shyly blushing, as he happily watched her hugging it.

You look over at Tadashi smiling happily. "You too Tadashi, thanks for trying." Just then you hear something loud go off, as you look up to the sky you see a pretty green firework, then a red follows after and more colors. "Wow! I didn't know they were doing fireworks! Oh shoot, that means we're gonna be late. I didn't realize how late it was."

"Me either... Hey, let's go watch them. I'll text Aunt Cass and let her know, I'm sure she won't mind. Besides I haven't seen any in a while, it would be nice." Tadashi says already reaching for his phone. "I even know a great spot to watch them from near here."

"Really!? That sounds perfect Tadashi, Let's go!" You say getting impatience not wanting to miss them all.

Tadashi puts his phone away swiftly after texting aunt Cass, as he takes (y/n) hand and leads the way. ''C'mon it's this way." He looks forward walking a bit fast as he was trying to hide his blush excitement from holding her hand. "Too bad Hiro's with us, this really would have been the perfect date... wait, what am I saying? [y/n] doesn't need this right now. She needs a friend."

Hiro follows after them quietly staring down at where their hands were holding. "Stupid Tadashi, holding (y/n)'s hand. Why am I so upset about it though?... I mean I don't... Besides she's two years older than me." He looks up at his brother with a pained look in his eyes trying to sort out his feelings. Why did he suddenly feel so uneasy?

"Wow, this really is a great spot Tadashi! Look, Hiro, you can see them all! Let's take a seat guy's." You take off your jacket setting it on the ground for you sit on it, looking up at all the different colors exploding in the sky as they mix into the dark purple of the night. You sigh happily feeling at peace watching all the bright colors in the sky. Finally, you felt like you weren't thinking about that jerk at all, not once all day.

"I knew that would make her smile..." Tadashi thought to himself taking a seat next to her as he smiles happily himself, watching her rather than the fireworks above. "This is bad, I think I really do like (y/n).." He couldn't help but blush faintly at the idea of his feelings.

Hiro sat behind Tadashi and (y/n), as he watched his brother staring happily and blushing. "Is it really okay for me to feel this way? I mean... she is older than me anyways. (y/n) would probably feel weird about a kid like me liking her. Plus I know my brother all too well, he definitely.. likes her.." He clutches both sleeves of his jacket as he feels a tightening in his chest.

"Alright if that's what you guys want" Tadashi sighs, running his hand over his hair giving in to both of them. "This is such a bad idea though." Suddenly he smirks, "Because I know Hiro's going to lose." He laughs making his way into the food line.

Thankfully for the wait wasn't too long and all of you were able to quickly get your food. After Tadashi pays and hands both you, Hiro the food; you all eat on the way to the twister. The wait for the twister was just as long as you dreaded it would be, so to pass the time all three of you play rock-paper-scissors. Hiro and you crush Tadashi.

"This is boring, besides we're almost next." Tadashi said scowling as he looks down at his yet again defeated hand for the fifth time.

"It's not my fault you suck at this" Hiro laughs, mocking his older brother. "I can't help it that I'm just better than you at some things."

"I don't think being good at rock-paper-scissors is something to be proud of." He said looking at him with a blank face that quickly turned annoyed at his brother's cockiness.

"Hahaha okay boys break it up, we're next! Let's go!" You said running past them, as you jump into the nearest seat. Hiro runs in after you taking your left side, leaving Tadashi with your right side. The staff lady comes around locking everyone in and making sure everything was secure before starting the ride up slowly. You were nearly bouncing in your seat as you fidget waiting for it to get faster and crazier.

"Haha wait for it, the ride just started. Do you really like being thrown around like a rag doll that much?" Tadashi teased with one of his charming playful smirks.

"Wouldn't you like to know Hamada." You said, smirking as you wiggle your eyebrows being weird.

Tadashi gulped, as a deep red creep into his face not expecting that response from (y/n). His eyes got a little wide as he shrinks back into his seat. Hiro overhearing the comment, eyes also went ride as he was thrown off he leans against the side a little. You bust out laughing holding your stomach. "HAHAHA I love your guys face, you should totally see it rig- NOW" you paused but tried to finish your sentence shouting it nearly, as the ride starts getting more rough and faster. You and the boys were being pressed and slammed against one another. "Ohff hahaha ow my sides." You said, laughing enjoying the ride as the wind tossed your hair around you shut your eyes tight.

"Crap now that's all I can think about now." Tadashi thought, staying quiet for the rest of the ride with his head down still blushing. Almost ashamed of his own thoughts.

"What the hell does she mean by that!?" Hiro thought, as he grips the handlebar tightly and stiffens his shoulders with cheeks red like his brothers.

The ride slowly stops and the staff lady comes to unlock you three, freeing you to jump right out of your seat. "That was great! Haha pretty lucky either one of us barf huh? Although it would have been kind of funny if one of us did."

"H-hah heh yeah totally." Hiro said slightly nervous as he ruffled up his hair in the back with a hand and the other in his pocket.

Tadashi clears his throat some as he spoke up. "Well uhh, Hiro why don't you pick the next ride for us."

"Sure! I have just the one in mind already." He said with a childlike grin.

"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" Tadashi mumbles to himself as he followed his brother who was now running off with (y/n) already.

Hiro leads all three of them up to the bumper cars. "Ta-da!"

"I love bumper cars! Oh and there's nearly no line either, you guys are dead!" You said practically as excited as a child. You run up to the gates to hand over your ticket.

"Yup I was right." Tadashi says with a small chuckle.

"What's wrong Tadashi do you really hate them that much?" You peered back over to him to tease him. "Fear Hiro and I will team up and beat you again? Haha.." You laugh mischievously.

"Oh trust me, you will understand after this. Hiro may be mature for his age, but he turns into the devils' child on this ride with no mercy.." He stated.

"Hey!" Hiro shouted offended. "It's bumper cars! Not drive around like your granny!"

"Uhh.." You suddenly felt a loss for words, as you saw a flash of little Hamada competitive spirit.

"Whenever we're little and Aunt Cass use to take us here all the time, Hiro would always go wild. Once he pushed me into a corner for the WHOLE ride." Tadashi says annoyed at the memory, as he looked over at his younger brother with a raised eyebrow that a parent would give almost. There was truly no other way to describe it.

You laugh a little, trying to hide your wary look as you turn your back to look for a car. "Well let's try and have fun, it is Hiro's turn to pick after all. Let's just remember it's a game, Hiro." You say getting into a purple car.

"Yeah, Yeah let's go!" Hiro said, jumping into a red car all excited.

"I guess since we're older it shouldn't be that bad." Tadashi says, buckling into a black car.

The buzzer goes off for everyone to start and everyone starts going crazy crushing as hard as they could into just about anyone. Everyone is driving after each other laughing and having a good time with strangers, at some point everyone started playing tag til the buzzer went off again for everyone to stop.

"Bye, everyone! Haha, great game of tag." You wave to everyone as you all were getting off the ride, as everyone was saying bye to each other and saying what a great time that was. "See not so bad right?" You said, bumping the older Hamada brother from the side.

"Haha yeah yeah, let's see where to next..." Tadashi thought, but not before long something came to mind as you all were getting off the ride. He starts leading the group to the area where all the game booths were. One of the booths was a popping balloons game, that had giant stuff plush's animals as the prize. "It's so big! I MUST have it!" You spotted a panda, saying with the upmost determination as you go digging into your pockets for a ticket. "What, no way! I'm out of tickets." You smack your lips.

"I have one more left." Both brothers say while digging in their pockets, as they pull it out they then look at each other.

"Why don't I try first then, you can try if I fail" Tadashi suggests to his brother.

"Why do you get to try first?" Hiro scowls, looking up at his older brother with arms cross and ticket still in hand.

"Why don't you both work together? One ticket gets two tries, Both of you can work together, going back and forth." You try suggesting cutting in.

"Hm, Sure but I'm totally going to win." Hiro says, picking his shoulders up high as he smirks. "I'm totally going to be the one to win that Panda for her."

"Whatever dork." Tadashi smiles, walking over to the booth and handing over his ticket first. "That's what you think, but I got this one in the bag. I was the champion at booth games. Someone seems to have forgotten who won all his toys for him."

"Yay, Panda!" You exclaim obliviously walking closer to the booth, standing between the two brothers.

Tadashi goes first, then Hiro was the one to managed to win it. "Thanks so much, Hiro! You're the best!" You say taking the plus from him as you kiss his cheek to show thanks.

"Heh yeah, it was no problem (y/n)." Hiro says a little shyly blushing, as he happily watched her hugging it.

You look over at Tadashi smiling happily. "You too Tadashi, thanks for trying." Just then you hear something loud go off, as you look up to the sky you see a pretty green firework, then a red follows after and more colors. "Wow! I didn't know they were doing fireworks! Oh shoot, that means we're gonna be late. I didn't realize how late it was."

"Me either... Hey, let's go watch them. I'll text Aunt Cass and let her know, I'm sure she won't mind. Besides I haven't seen any in a while, it would be nice." Tadashi says already reaching for his phone. "I even know a great spot to watch them from near here."

"Really!? That sounds perfect Tadashi, Let's go!" You say getting impatience not wanting to miss them all.

Tadashi puts his phone away swiftly after texting aunt Cass, as he takes (y/n) hand and leads the way. ''C'mon it's this way." He looks forward walking a bit fast as he was trying to hide his blush excitement from holding her hand. "Too bad Hiro's with us, this really would have been the perfect date... wait, what am I saying? [y/n] doesn't need this right now. She needs a friend."

Hiro follows after them quietly staring down at where their hands were holding. "Stupid Tadashi, holding (y/n)'s hand. Why am I so upset about it though?... I mean I don't... Besides she's two years older than me." He looks up at his brother with a pained look in his eyes trying to sort out his feelings. Why did he suddenly feel so uneasy?

"Wow, this really is a great spot Tadashi! Look, Hiro, you can see them all! Let's take a seat guy's." You take off your jacket setting it on the ground for you sit on it, looking up at all the different colors exploding in the sky as they mix into the dark purple of the night. You sigh happily feeling at peace watching all the bright colors in the sky. Finally, you felt like you weren't thinking about that jerk at all, not once all day.

"I knew that would make her smile..." Tadashi thought to himself taking a seat next to her as he smiles happily himself, watching her rather than the fireworks above. "This is bad, I think I really do like (y/n).." He couldn't help but blush faintly at the idea of his feelings.

Hiro sat behind Tadashi and (y/n), as he watched his brother staring happily and blushing. "Is it really okay for me to feel this way? I mean... she is older than me anyways. (y/n) would probably feel weird about a kid like me liking her. Plus I know my brother all too well, he definitely.. likes her.." He clutches both sleeves of his jacket as he feels a tightening in his chest.
