I've never had a frog of my own,
but I've seen that happen.
It's pretty nifty.
Buuut I have seen a praying mantis
stab a fly out of mid-air.
That was pretty bad ass, lol.

Yeah, it was a few years ago.
It was a crazy big praying mantis,
and, being a kid, I wanted to keep it.
All we had to feed it were random bugs, though.
And it was in a bucket and was eyeing this fly,
then just BAM, stabbed it through the chest,
and ate it.

It was crazy as hell, lol.

Someone should come up with a superhero with mantis arms...

And I'm glad I could help you with your night

I decided that once it's gets warm I'm going Mantis hunting. And I'm taking my camera.

I'd keep one as a pet but I seriously doubt it's scissor hands would be a match for Ophelia the Cat. My dad and his brothers used to keep an enormous one in the laundry room and it would fly and land on their shoulders to greet them.

Well, they don't use them against things they fear.
If you were to grab a mantis, they wouldn't stab you.
So, I highly doubt it'd pick a fight with a cat, lol.

Whether or not it picked a fight, Oaf would destroy it. You should see what she does to defenseless crickets and grubs.

I can imagine, lol.
I remember my dog getting its first snake,
that was crazy.
But then again, I did see my turtle eat a crawdad (if that's how it's spelled)
It bit off it's claws and then its head.
It was awesome, lol.

Lol! You need to carry around a video camera. I bet the crawdad tasted better than the snake

I bet the same.
And all these things happened long ago.
I had pics on old phones that broke,
and disposable cameras never developed.
But that's about it.
And, since I do a LOT of sports
and other activities;
I rarely have time to go out and explore
with my handy dandy camera.

That's life I guess... This summer I'm definitely going to make it a point to do a lot of hiking and exploration. My last summer was spent traveling and moving in and I was deprived of enjoying the outdoors! I'm going nuts, it keeps snowing!

Well, I've seen some spectacular bird in snow pics.
There's a bunch of things snow can enhance.
It all depends on where you are, really.
I've always been more of a fan of summer pics, too, though.

Yeah, I'm just being a baby because I don't have any winter gear.

But yeah... I love collecting tadpoles, catching toads, (trying) to catch river minnows... canoeing... So I'm angry with winter for teaching me a lesson in patience this year.

Haha, sounds like a fun time.
I'd do that stuff when I was a kid.
There was a creek by my dad's I always found cool stuff in.
I went barefoot 'cause I liked the feel of the mud.
Then one day I saw a water moccasin in the water,
and it slithered over my feet.
Freaked me the hell out, lol.
Wore boots from then on.

They're not found in too many places.
But I've had 2 or 3 experiences like that within 10miles.
I never traveled much, lol.

I've never had a run-in with one but I've had plenty of experiences with copper heads. I even caught a baby and kept it as a pet for a short stint (until my mom got involved).
