Fuurrrrrrrrrr!

One of the big Jungle Book spreads for my Adv. Digital final, illustrating the scene in which Mowgli uses the (very yellow) 'red flower' to keep Shere Khan and his wolf devotees at bay. Akela was originally in the scene behind Mowgli, but he ended up getting cut because of weird compositional issues and lack of decent references. Why is it so hard to find good wolf references that aren't Twilight-related? D: This is a serious problem guys.

In case anybody's wondering: these, my dear friends, are the colors of my brain exploding all over my computer after staying awake for many, many days. Okay, like three days, but then there was a night I was watching some A&E serial killer profiling videos and didn't sleep very well. So yeah.

In all seriousness, the colors actually started out pretty realistic. Lots of browns and similarly earthy muted tones, and then somehow it took a turn for the 80's. Probably due to a combination of sleep depravity and boredom XD

And yes, Shere Khan is ENORMOUS. It is to emphasize his awesomeness. Less importantly, to emphasize the way he has persistently loomed over Mowgli's life, just waiting to catch him off guard.
