Description
It used to bethat when you locked gazes with me
I could hear the truth
loud and clear. Ringing straight into my ear.
Now I peer into your eyes
and a wash of insecurities rest on me,
like waves attacking a nearby rock
I'm slowly being eaten away at
by your lies.
A cold shoulder here,
a quick brush-off there,
would it kill you to stop?
to show me you still care?
today when we finally
got the chance to speak,
You flat out insulted me
the words cut me deep.
Not as deep
as I thought they should
but definitely penetrating,
Penetrating the sanctuary of my emotions
I opened my mouth to speak,
respond to your icy tones,
but my tongue was nipped with frostbite
and I was rendered speechless
looking like a newborn fawn
caught in the crossing of death on I-95.
And something DID die that moment.
When I piece this all together
and the jig saw puzzle lays uncompleted,
I'll tell you which piece is missing,
by then maybe you won't be gone too far,
and we can find it...
together.
