"She rose out of the water slowly and carefully, the water dripping off her fur and her face radiated confidence and finality, while the hobs expression was dominated by blind anger and injured pride. Rahkshi thought he’d have it easier with her, but he was wrong.
They stood like that for a while, resting, staring at each other, Rahkshi on the ground, Quelana in the water. They were waiting for their opponent to make the first move, but both were patient and strategic. Then the jill felt a pull under her feet. Ebb was coming and would drag all the water back into the open ocean. She had to be fast or there would be more hard ground for the hob to fight on.
«What are you waiting for, Kraata?»
She called towards him, the distance between them seemingly endless, but the hob didn’t move a muscle.
«If you’re gonna kill me, then do it! I won’t run anymore.»
Now he continued to walk closer to her, grinning from one ear to the other. He had her that time, he was sure about that. He imagined digging his vampire teeth into her cheek and ripping out more and more flesh until her skull was exposed. He’d keep her skull too, he thought to himself. As a trophy.
Quelana felt a cold breeze stir up and it looked like a storm was coming. She shivered not just from the weather, but from the ruthless Mayur walking up to her too. His feet were now dipping into the water, but he kept going.
The jill closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She remembered what had almost killed her the first time she’d been swimming in the open sea and was hoping it would happen again.
Rahkshi was now standing right in front of her and dominantly pressed his head against hers, but she wouldn’t let him get through with this power play and countered his move, both looking deep into each others eyes, seeing disgust and anger in one way or another. Only one of them would leave here alive.
Blazingly fast, the caramel hob lunged his head back and tried to bite her in the face, but the jill dodged just in time and slid her feet across the ground in a circle, throwing her opponent off his feet. While he fell, he snapped at her shoulder and ripped out a large piece of flesh, but the adrenaline kept her from feeling the pain. Now she grabbed him on the scruff of his neck and, with the remaining bit of her energy, threw him over herself and into the deep ocean. He had no ground below him anymore and had to swim, but the ebb was dragging him farther out. A rip current had gotten a hold of the hob and pulled him in, away from the beach and into the endless open. Rahkshi struggled and tried to swim back, but he was too exhausted as well and couldn’t fight the strong stream. Quelana watched him float out, his head breaching the water less and less until she didn’t see him anymore at all. She felt bad for wishing him death, but she knew his life was in the great mothers hands now either way. And that he'd get what he deserved."
