Harpy species designs

Behaviour: Harpies are the more aggressive species of their world, the females more-so than the males, who tend to be a bit more docile, however still rather fearsome if you wander too close. Females are known to hold grudges and attack on sight.

They are well known for their blood curdling screeches, but more often make guttural sounds and soft coos depending on their mood. Their screeches are more often used to ward off strangers, issue challenges or as terrifying battle cries of sorts.

They don't like fire.

Physical traits: Harpies are incredibly muscular, especially their legs as they require a lot of strength and control for lifting and perching as they do. Their necks can stretch out and they can turn their heads 180 degrees, they also can scrunch their necks down for warmth or when are little bit flustered or afraid.
They puff out their plumage as well and elongate their necks to make themselves seem more formidable to scare off foes.

Harpies vary in colour and feather patterning, usually the females don longer, brighter feathers, perhaps contributing to their more aggressive look. Although the males can also have bright, long feathers, it's not as common.

Culture/Community: Although rather social creatures, they tend to mingle with their own kind, mostly because of their aggressive nature, they don't get along well with other races.
Harpies are incredibly affectionate to their own family, their communities tend to be based heavily around family and territory.

They do not partake in trades or any kind of activities with other cultures, really they are selfish towards themselves and their families, and will often fight between one another to get what they need or want.

Since they are really more of a predator within their world, they are more feared than most, however their biggest threat are centaurs, who they dare not approach as they can easily overpower them, and can be incredibly brutal when they feel they and their peers are threatened.

Diet: Harpies eat meat, they are not overly fond of vegetation.
They have been known to attack and fly off with children or smaller species such as Fauns and pixies, but due to people being more aware and ready to fight them off they tend to make do with fish and small animals. If they are desperate they will eat pretty much anything though, some have been known to even eat scrap materials and garbage out of desperation.
