Thanks everyone for your comments and views.
I was so honoured that the local army base permitted the shoot, and coordinated the planes and vehicles for the day. WWII era it is (or at least that was my idea).
cant recall names offhand but to answer a few questions posed....
the shadow from behind the ambulance is actually another vehicle thats out of frame
The 'pristine' look... my vision/idea was the home airfield, pilots coming home ...
the person that asked about the photography aspect, I have messaged you
amazing amazing honour to receive a DD for this

Nice job! I find it rather amazing that you were able to pull this off in the modern age.

This is one of the few DDs I actually like. It's excellent. I actually thought it was a really high-quality painting. It's smooth, but also crisp and clear, vibrant, and REALLY eye-catching. I LOVE it.

How did you get it to look like a colored pencil drawing?

Honest question. Forgive my ignorance, but how do you HDR with that much motion in a fly-over? It's a great photo and I'm just wanting to learn.

Honestly, you'd have to ask the artist him/herself. I'm not very skilled with photography

I think it's too clean for the concept of war. I love it nonetheless

Guess that depends on the desired vision of war. It might be plastic, artificial, and for this look clean. It might be immature, thus remembering toys, something like that.
Have you ever watched Waltz with Bashir? It has some interesting approach on war and the overall looking is very clean at some critical points, though there are some rougher ones.

Wonderful composition and colours. The area they're in looks so desolate- it gives this a really sad vibe to me.

There is something undeniably captivating and (dare I say) romantic about the wars of past generations.
