Description I would say with confidence, that in any city the night brings on a completely different world than that of the day ...

Before I left for school earlier this year, it was a frequent service of mine to go with a local group called "No Walls Ministry" -- a homeless outreach which, instead of setting up a soup kitchen, would actually visit the homeless in their own territory: in woody thickets, under bridges, in the alleys, on the benches, in the streets. We brought food and fellowship, offered blankets and prayer, and were often out until 1 or 2 in the morning, until we'd either completed our run or run out of supplies.

Pittsburgh is a relatively safe city compared to many, but it still has its dangers. I watched a friend be mauled by a dog not ten feet in front of me; I stood under a concrete "cave" where a bullet ricochetted off the wall behind us. I heard stories of drug fatalities and murder and men found dead and all kinds of sadness and fear that was rooted in sins committed by and to people. My heart broke again and again.

It'll really change your perspective. Many Christians think you need to go overseas to enter missions: they completely forget the mission field in their own backyard.

I passed this bridge many nights and would always manage to forget my camera. Fortunately, I had both time and the camera handy with me the last Friday I spent in the city, that summer. If memory serves me right, it is the "6th Street Bridge" -- the Roberto Clemente Bridge over the Allegheny river in Pittsburgh.

Yeah, I think so. He's an older man, but a sturdy one at that. I'd say God's hand is on his life

Amazing Photograph! I LOVE how you captured the city lights.. and I don't even like Cities that much XD I preferr the soft light within a predawn forest with the songs of the birds around me and the whispering of the trees as a gentle breeze ruffles their leaves. I prefer the touch of Mother Nature rather then the hustle and bustle of the City.

here, you make even the manmade City look pretty. ^^

Culture has an interesting feel to it. It's comforting the way "home sweet home" is comforting, at times. I can't really explain it. There's a kind of rest in being in the place you were born. If there's a comfort in this photo for me, that would be it.

I do adore nature -- granted, for different reasons. In itself, it is nice. Yet it is not all there is to it but just a fraction, a single whisper by a greater and most omnipotent God, whose glory I do not think I could even face. Such a thing could never properly be put into a picture, methinks.

I'm glad your god is so good to you. It definately does seem to be the right thing for you, even if you do seem to be a bit too much into it.

Everyone's "too much" into something, yeah? I like to be "too much" into something eternal.

I do suppose I'm too much into fantasy sometimes.. but I don't let it take over every aspect of my life. XD
I wanna live for now, not for some unsure eternity, no offense,... though you believe it very strongly. I'm sure it will come to pass for you.

I suppose my life has taught me one thing :: NOW is unsure. It's easy to lose everything you have in a split second. If this life is all there is to it, that's mighty pathetic.

well, have fun in this one, then you;ll die, then get sent to the next one... I do believe strongly in reincarnation. I have dreams about past lives... mostly of flying, and thigns that feel very, very real. I think everything that's happenign to me now must be punishment for something I did in a past life ...

Ack I hate bad luck 0.0

Beautiful photo! You're right about missions being right here at home too. I hope you are careful when you go out! I'll be praying for you and your group that you are safe. But what an awesome ministry!
