Oh I get it, he's supposed to be human here, right? I just noticed that he has goggles on his forehead instead of horns.

His big stone hand doesn't actually come off, right? It's just his hand, isn't it?

I've seen your other color tests/deviations, they were good, and I'm glad you resisted using red for this one. Since it was a re-imagining of sorts, you chose an effective way to break away. Very nice work.

Very neat take on the Hellboy character. Those goggles as horns are a perfect fit!

This is why I love Hellboy. He fits in so well with all of the odd things.

Damn You!!! (Great re-imagining of Hellboy. Mignola needs to look you up.)
Question: Which grays are you using?

Yeah, I hear you, but my idea was that this isn't Hellboy, but a guy who looks like him. Hopefully that comes across.

Thanks, man. I can't say I get paid well, but I'm living, so it's all good. Maybe some day I can over price the hell outta my stuff like everyone else LOL....kidding!..but not really.

Thanks for replying, mate. Your style is so consistent in every piece.
Your artwork should be snapped up by Dark Horse, DC, Marvel, etc. immediately!
I know what you mean by over-pricing your art one day. Personally, I feel
if I did over-price my own artwork, one day, and got paid, there would be no
guilt cos it would balance out all the freebies I have done in the past. LOL

ChristopherStevens In reply to Trinivee [2010-03-20 19:55:51 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. Not really a Superman, but I Batman would be very cool. Superman would be a bit tougher, but pretty cool too.

Superman would be tougher, but think about it this way,one of the "innovations" a steam-punk superman could bring to the table would be flight, its what the regular superman is primarily known for, in a steam-punk world, he could be the first to come up with it.Add in a few gadgets for his heat and x-ray vision,a lil steam powered exo-suit or something for some muscle and voila! ...I talk too much, but keep up the good work!

I don't often dish out great praise here on deviantart. I think there are already too many people kissing ass and not really giving any productive feedback.
On that note... this is fucking great. It's a really creative idea and you pulled it off perfectly.
Fucking badass...

Hehe Goggles. From what I've heard that what most people thought they were before Mignola threw in the bit about filing his horns.

Yeah, I forgot about that, but you're right. Does that make this idea better or worse? Not sure.

I think it works pretty well. It conveys the iconic image and doubles as a fan fact bonus.
