You're right, there's a lot of new and nice stuff here! I really like how you let the pattern on the leg greaves echo the pattern on the shield!

I would think the spearhead is wrong.  To my eye, your spear looks more like a javelin rather than a spear used as a type of lance.  I would have expected something a bit more like these:

www.ask.com/wiki/Spear?o=2801&…

The first picture on the right are modern reproductions of a medieval European spear and a series of javelins. The heads are hand forged steel, the shafts are made from Ash wood.  I don't remember Tolkien ever mentioning stirrups.  Therefore, a late medieval lance would certainly be wrong.  Even if technically correct, I think the spear does not work for me.  I think in the Two Towers either when the two hobbits are in the orc camp attacked by the Rohirrim or when Aragorn talks to them latter, their is a passage with a description of the spears.  However, my memory may be faulty.

I will say the rest of the outfit is absolutely smashing.

Indeed Tolkien described Spear for the Rohirrim.
And yes I have a SPEAR.
Once more I repeat you see it from the side so... It didn't appear to be wide from this angle!
As if you were weeing a sheet of paper from the side ^^

No problem I do know what is a spear... It's my work to use them

You'll see more of it in other pictures

I think the leg armor is what impresses me the most.

Haaaa !...

A Roman Pilum, a Viking Battle Axe, a 15th century broad sword and a Viking shield?

A nice visual mix.  Another good job!

ChrisVernel In reply to waltb2b [2015-03-21 21:31:55 +0000 UTC]

Sorry but this is all suitable for Vikings.
This is a viking sword. The axe is too indeed, the Spear is basicly a weapon used during all the medieval ages.
And NO this is not a roman Pillum, I use Pilla every single day at work and trust me I do know what is a Pillum. ^^
But I do understand the misunderstanding as you see here the spear from the side, and it's a blunted one, I should ask for an edit on the head and avoid this kind of possible confusions
And this shield is inspired by viking but to little for be one ( and this is a bad part of it : to little, would have been better widder)
This is all for the precisions ^^

Thanks for the corrections -- I never knew the pillum technology survived the Legions.

What do you spear every day at work with that???

You still looked great!

Pilla have been used by merovingien BUT not by viking, get me well here ^^
This is only a blunted spear that you see from the side.
I'm a profesional fighter and performer , have a look to my gallery "historical performs" ( + a look on my yoube channel perhaps )
Thanks!
