Description
Hey DA Fam & ROBOTECH Fans,
With the successful release of the Kickstarted miniature war-game ROBOTECH RPG TACTICS (RRT) published by Palladiumbooks and co-developed by Ninja Division, and owned by Harmony Gold. I was one of the Artists that enjoyed working on some of the rule book interior art. The vast majority of the art was done through the stellar production team assembled by Ninja Division, but I was also part of the Art team and was able to contribute to the RRT rulebook which has a loose painted less detailed style/aesthetic. It was different from what I am accustomed to, but I enjoyed it and adapted my style none-the-less for pleasing consistency.
I grew enjoying every minute of the Robotech animation, soaking it up before I left to go to school and raced home to watch it when I go home from school in the early afternoon. Last year at North America’s largest gaming convention known as “Gen-Con” there was a Gen-Con exclusive special release of two special miniatures: the Max Sterling Veritech VF-1J fighter in Batteloid mode and also a Miriya in her female power armor the “Queadluun-Rau.”
BTW, before anyone yells at me, I know... I know.. Max didn't use the VF-1J during his skirmish with Miriya, it was the VF-1A, but personally I like the VF-1J for him better.
So I took it upon myself to do a homage illustration for the classic battle between the most skilled pilots (IMHO) in the Robotech Animation. I did it in the rule book painted style but it was later requested for me to illustrate a more hands on battle between one of the Destroids and a Battlepod. I will upload all of the art that I did contribute that is in the RRT rule book later.
This illustration was not used. I did print up a select few that I revealed and sold out of at this year’s Gen Con. I would like to simply share it with all of you for your own enjoyment! Who knows, maybe upcoming RRT Gamers can use it for Game Screen at conventions and Hobby store OP events.

Gorgeous, instant fav! The level of detail is amazing....
I hate to be the "but guy", but..... wasn't Max using a VF-1A when he fought against Miria...?
fantastic art nonetheless

Another nice one. Never enough Miriya art. I still remember being impressed with the animation quality in their first dogfight in the Macross series. Is anyone else disappointed that Transformers took off in the movies and Robotech never got off the ground?

Whew, talk about memories, my very first experience with Robotech was through Revell Robotech known as the Changers series models as seen here:
www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/…
and
i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTA2NFgxNjA…
Revell also offered models of the Dougram and Votoms: Scopedog replicas, but I was already ahead of that curve (thanks to my late- but very cool Dad who bought me the rare cool toys) with actually die cast toys with better options and durability. Then came the Robotech Anime and consider my mind blown. Man those were the good ole days!!!

The storyline was actually pretty cool. I had some cheap plastic Veritech models. I had all the palladium books, and watched the series. I loved it from first view because my dad worked on the F14 as an aeronautical engineer, and the Veritech was inspired by that plane.

Sounds like we had similar childhoods - I've got the Macross version today (only one disc, maybe 5 episodes) and my wife, not a huge anime or sci-fi fan, finds something relaxing in it all, so we put it on from time to time and enjoy and laugh (the Macross VO for Minmei is just... well. Indescribable in polite terms.)
This image really matches their skidding, street level battle style that was so memorable in the anime.

WOW!!! Talk about memories huh?
I haven't checked out the newest Macross version but I will be sure to.
Your wife has Great taste, hey what can ya say, smile!
That fast paced skidding and agility of Robotech mecha was exactly what I wanted to capture.
So... glad you see it.
