Description
Imperial Russian Army:Β Dress & Everyday InsigniaFollowing the series that started with the Navy, here is the chart of ranks and insignia of the Imperial Russian Army in theΒ 21st century.
As you can see by the examples, the piping colors in the visor cap matches those of the branch of service. Example: a Medical officer displays red-green piping, while a Grenadier Guard officer displays light yellow piping, and an Infantry officer, red piping. A member of His Imperial Majesty's Retinue shows white-red piping, and so on. For more information, check out the Branch Color chart.

As I was explaining in my note (sorry, pressed for time at the moment), the grenadiers branch was just a separate branch of infantry. The two regiments in the guards had their own regimental colourings, and the first two divisions of infantry had a specific colour coding:
1st Regiment: Red
2nd Regiment: Blue
3rd Regiment: White
4th Regiment: Green
That being said, that was for collars, cuffs, and caps. The shoulder boards for both the 1st and 2nd guards infantry divisions were red with red piping and gold metal. The uniforms for guards would be different to distinguish them from other infantry units, such as those collar tabs, and I use a white beret for the Pavlovsky regiment. They originally had a brass mitre cap which looked kind of like a bishop's hat.
For simplicity's sake, think of the Russian Imperial Guard as a completely separate branch of service, simply made up of army, navy, and air force components. That might reconcile the confusion about branch colours vs. regiment colours.

LOL I thought that as well, but I put on some faith most people would read the notes and find out what the acronym stands for
BTW, I did something about Ireland: a chart on the police services
