Description Woo! Been awhile since I've done a full non vectored artwork! I recently got a XP-Pen Artist Pro 24" Tablet, and I am loving it! Its taking time to get used to drawing on a tablet pc again VS and iPad for my sketching, and I'm a bit out of practice hand inking for sure, but damn, this tablet is NICE. This big screen is a beauty and its got a really nice feel to it.  My only real nitpick is the calibration goes out from time to time, but that may be more of a "my pc" problem due to the extreme age of my video card (riding on 8 years and I'm pushing it for dual HD screens) than than the tablets fault. I'm getting my PC upgraded in a few weeks so that might sort itself out a bit.

Vectoring VS hand drawing/coloring has a lot or procs and cons to be sure. There's a lot of sacrifices I make when I work by hand, like I lose a lot of that "perfectionism", the ability to go back and find tune lines forever, so I can see there's errors and things I would love to go in and tweak all over the place. But with hand inking it's much more detailed, I get a lot more lines than I do with vectoring, and a lot more "natural" looking depth I lack in vectored lines. Now if there was a way I could do this kind of inking with a vectored brush I would be set, so I could go back and get that editing ability with the vector brush later, but this was done about 95% in Clip Studio, with only the last big of editing/background done in Affinity. That was another learning curve, normally I'm the reverse, about 95% in Affinity and only the rare 5% in Clip for tiny edits and things, so there was a big ol learning curve again since it's been years since I've actually used Clip for well... real coloring like this.

I have a lot more training to do on the tablet, especially training to use Affinity Designer in it, I've always been strictly a mouse user in Affinity.  Yup, every vectored work you've ever seen me do, is strictly by a MOUSE. So learning times are ahead. I look forward to it, I hope this tablet will help increase my productivity and help me learn a bunch of new skills.

As for the finished piece, I'm really happy with it! It took awhile to decide where I was going with it, but in the end I really like it for just a few days of goofing around with the tablet!
