This is just a musing of mine. In Gen I, Eevee was only evolved by stones, and I think it should return to this idea. I never really liked the idea of Pokemon evolving at a specific place, and this would eradicate the need for these areas to be continually put in future games. Moreover, with the creation of new stones, there are enough to cover all the eeveelutions, including my Fakemon: Pureon [link]Now, the eeveelutions all have a type that was denoted 'Special' rather than 'Physical' before the divide. (This includes my idea of a Light type, that would have been the 9th Special category, thus balancing out with the 9 Physical types). The only 'Special' type not to be covered yet is Dragon. And fortunately there is one stone left: the Moon Stone. I believe this could work, as it does not have to evolve something into a Normal type. (Think Nido's and Musharna).
So, I'm not saying this should be the case, just that it could be the case in any future games; so that it's just as easy to get your Eevee to become any one of its evolutions.

I like how you associate the Dawn Stone with the psychic type. That makes more sense than being a gender-exclusive stone

And ofcourse Eevee give a stone to evolve.
By the way. I don't like to run into Forest our Ice path.
To evolve Eevee as Leafreon or Glaceon.

The Moon Stone should go to Sylveon and the Sun Stone should go to Dragon Evo Eevee.

Yeah, this will need some updating with Sylveon. But what you say would work! Poor Pureon though, less likely he'll get a stone now!
I'm honestly quite surprised there wasn't a Drakeon released alongside Sylveon this generation. Perhaps next generation!
I also find it weird, how ribbons were a feature of both my Pureon and their Sylveon. Obviously we felt that's what a new-type eeveelution needed!

I don't know what the chances are of a Dragon-type Eevee anymore, since Fairy-types were created specifically to snuff out Dragon and Dark-types. Unless of course it gains an ability that makes it invincible against Fairy-types.
Dragon Eevee would be kind of the in-between guy.

In fact, why limit this to just Eevee. All Pokemon that evolve by stone should follow this formula.

If they did that, it would either be Sun/Moon Stones for Espeon/Umbreon, or Shiny/Dusk Stones, because they are absolutely daytime related no matter what.
And for Glaceon, except for an Ice Stone, everything will seem forced and inappropriate.

Just realised you were probably mislead by the english names, particularly the "Dawn Stone".
Shiny and Dusk are opposites of light and dark, while the Dawn Stone, literally translated to something like Awakening Stone, unleashes hidden potential in specific pokemon, triggering alternate evolutions, with the only results so far being Froslass and Gallade.

Yes, I was treating Dawn Stone as the opposite of Dusk stone. And again I went Shiny stone for Glaceon in the literal sense, as its coat shines, and it can learn Mirror Coat.
This idea is most certainly just a passing thought. I'm not in anyway suggesting the current set-up is wrong. I just feel it should be as easy to get your eevee to become any one of its evolutions, and without creating any more stones, this was a way I could see it being done.
I don't expect the creators to alter this at all, I was just wondering how other people felt about the different forms of evolution.

The Dawn Stone would work out pretty well for a Normal type Eeveelution in the "Awakening Stone" case.
And of course Saiph has the right of it with Ice Stone (or perhaps Ice Chunk? lol) and Dusk/Shiny stones.

Well, we'd need a new stone now anyway, as with Sylveon, and most probably a Dragon type eeveelution which will pair with it. there won't be enough stones! So an Ice Chunk would be needed. lol!

Well that's unknown. We don't know if they'll make any new Eeveelutions at all, and they might make a stone for Sylveon or they might not. We can only really tell when the games come out lol.

Thanks, means a lot! I mean, I would say I enjoyed making the trek to get my Eevee to be a Glaceon; but in reality, I just flew to Snowpoint City and walked down and used a Rare Candy. There's not much of an adventure to that, so I would've preferred to just use a stone. Perhaps there could be more adventure in finding the stones?!!?

Yeah I see what you mean. I kinda think that, unless you just happen to be using an eevee in that time and place it would be very difficult to actually find out how to evolve it without some kind of hint ^^:
The adventure there would also be a good pointer in the right direction as to how to get the pokemon to evolve (if that makes any sense

Think I get what you mean. Like a random person giving a cryptic clue as to the fact that a certain Pokemon evolves somewhere? Like just off the top of my head, if some other trainer said, "I hear that, in specific spots, the blizzards south of Snowpoint City are so strong that sometimes enough ice sticks to a certain Pokemon's fur that it becomes a different Pokemon!"
