Ever since I flipped through Robert D. San Souci's "Nicholas Pipe", I just fell in love with the story -- then did research on the folktale that inspired it - and wanted to do an adaptation of my own. And now, being a deviantART member, I finally have, as you can see here

"Nicholas Pipe is a merman. Through a magic spell he walks on two legs when on land, while beneath the waves he can swim for hours with his powerful fishtail. To Margaret, the daughter of an ordinary fisherman, the handsome merman is a marvel beyond all others -- but her father has forbidden her even to speak to him. As their love blossoms, Nicholas and Margaret must defy her father, the jealous sea-folk...even the king himself!"

The first time I tried doing this story, I used the typical medieval setting, as it's an Olde English folktale from the Middle Ages; but then I felt it was kinda boring drawing everything medieval-style. So, to make this more fun to drawI decided to move the story to modern times^_^). This version is set around the early 1950s, hence Nicholas Pipe's outfit and Margaret's dress^^. And what's more, since it was originally an Old English folktale, what better setting than modern-day UK?
