Description
As the tour was slightly behind schedule, the expected addition of 44871 at Manchester Victoria didn't happen, and instead the loco was added whilst 5690 took on water at Eccles.Following departure, it was yet another storming departure up Miles Platting Incline, and here she is seen showing Class 144 number 144021 exactly what a proper train is...

Love the steam coming out! Great shot. I would much rather travel on the steam train than the boring old electric one You can tell how dirty the steam is though... so unfortunate!

*Diesel
Dirty steam makes for better photos, unfortunate for the environment maybe, but when you get a photo like this, quite frankly sucks to mother nature.

So thats the reason 44871 went shooting past us at victoria. I was on this tour and I was expecting a few minutes to get some choice shots of 44871 alone before the red beast turned up, still a tremendous sound as the train blasted through light engine! Excellent image mate!

I can't stop grinning at this photo. To my mind at least it's much more fun like this than had the 144 not been there, despite the drama of the (very) Black 5. Mind you, I'm slightly surprised that nobody's yet claimed that they'd rather be on the Pacer!

Maybe no-ones claimed they'd rather be on the Pacer because they realise just how sad they are and know they'd be mentally killed if they owned up to it.
It's one of those "I'm in the wrong job!" moments. As many a driver has had whilst driving boring units up and down the country coming head to head with a steam engine doing this.

Indeed! Driving a train has never been something I'd ever have been able to do (because I'm epileptic) but even if I had, I'm not sure I'd have been overcome with joy to be in the 144 at this precise moment!

I reckon they issue all the drivers with frying pans or revolvers, with instructions reading "If you see someone driving anything better and feel just a little bit jealous, use this to take away the pain."

What, for Pacers? There'd be no crew left within a day!

With these stats you might end up in my end of year top 10 again.

With these stats, it's bound to be my entry for the year end competition, it's unlikely I'll pull anything better out of the hat with the remainder of the year, unless I get really lucky...

well for my top 50 I think if you and Collin place in the top 10 you two will be the first people on dA to make the top 10 in all 3 features.
