I love your train shots, they look always stunning! Do you wait for the trains to shoot the pictures or do you know when they will pass under which bridge?
And if it's ok to share with us, can you tell us how you actually started taking photos of trains? Where does your "train love" come from?

UKSteam.info is our oracle for things such as this. The site has listings for steam hauled charters and loco movements all over the UK, no matter how big or small, if it touches Network Rail metals, it's listed. For diesel and electric hauled charter trains, or just odd workings up and down the country, we have GEN (General Engine Notification) via Yahoo Groups, providing live updates from contacts in the field of what passes them and in what direction, sometimes even a complete headcode and route plan from the TOPS system well in advance of it going ahead.

And I didn't really get into this as such, I was born this way. Ever since I can remember, my family has been full of transport enthusiasts of one kind or another, my uncles are into buses and trams, and my dad is into trams, buses and trains altogether, and was also a guard on British Rail for a long period of time, leaving BR shortly before privatisation. As soon as I got a digital camera, I was out taking photos, and I honed my skills over time 'til I got to where I am today.

I really should make a journal or something out of that last point one day.

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions with such a long text! You are really talented and kind. I think you should consider having an exhibiton; that would be great, including the people who has never heard of your work, to get a chance to see your work.

Self plug approved.

I do feel I've taken a leaf out of Rowan Jackson's book though. *bridge, post, bridge, post, bridge, post*

Ha! Yeah, still, if you do them right (Ala yours and Rowans) then it looks brill, if you do it wrong (ala mine) then it looks terrible!

I admit it has been rather repetitive of late, but hopefully later things will change.

Thanks for the comments

Alright, I'm guilty of bridgepost myself. There. I admitted it.
