I really like the idea of showing faces and emotions in different boxes. I like the 3D-feeling, too - it makes the picture more lively. The first thing that comes to my mind are all the different people we meet in our lifetime and you have to act different with each individual.
The brown cat on the other hand is a bit confusing to me and I think it gives the painting a certain "unbalance". Maybe you wanted to tell something with it but for me it looks like that it doesn't belong to this painting.
Overall I like it very much and I like the limited color sheme, too .

Thank you so much Anita for a re-look and giving me feed-back so promptly.

Thanks as well for a browse of my gallery and fav-ing a couple of other pieces too! Really delighted.

As to 'context', the cat-and-mouse frame is the only odd-one - both in colour and presentation. You spotted it right. That frame shows violence. What I am trying to say is violence always happens in a context. It is not an isolated instance as we tend to treat it or the law treats it. That this is the criminal and this the crime. To me, it is never that simple. There are faces around cat-and-mouse - some indifferent, some so much self-absorbed that they are not bothered about the society. All this context contributes to violence. Hope that makes sense!

and thanks again!

It definately makes sense to me. In psychology for example, the term "guilt" is nonexistant. I think it only exists in law. There are always a lot of factors and interactive effects that has to be considered. And society definately plays an important role.

It seems that you put a lot of effort and thoughts into your artworks - really nice .

oh thank you so much, Anita for your kind words and high compliments!I am really glad that I asked you to have a relook and you obliged. Always nice to hear from someone who comes from a different speciality. And gratifying too that you find support in your faculty re what I want to say through the painting.

Nice meeting you. I am Chandrashekhar [lol, a tongue-twisting name, I know!]. We keep them mouthful in India!!. [ch as 'tsch' and sh as 'sch']

Have a good evening.

Hmm.... My take, which is probably off base, is that all things get put into a box. Everything is defined and set to be believed a certain way. But in reality, everything is more dimensional than we'd like to presume.

Nice work, ofcourse.

Thanks Rachel

I really appreciate this feed-back considering how pressed you are for time.

You are right in that we tend to put people/feelings/ expressions in to boxes and they are more than two-dimensional.
I am sending you a Note for the intended meaning,to have as would like to have as many 'unguided' potential comments here, as possible.

This is cool, my friend just did some design similar to this (with the boxes) in school, she said she had to practice with the spddp ball pen ( I think that's what it's called )

The design is really good though, and the faces a very unique (especially the one on the bottom right

ya know it almost looks like something from the Minds Eye.

Of course I'm an artist myself and I really like detail cause that's how I see things ( in detail)

I'v never done traditional paint I'v seen it on tv how it's done and just painting itself is an art no matter how well the painting comes out ( it takes technique )

Your welcome again!

Clever idea to make a checkerboard composition and the squares 3-D. Intriguing imagery. I wonder if it's random or if it all relates. I like the bright red against the black. It makes it really pop. I really like the way you painted the hand.

Thanks Juliette.
hand took max time to get around, basically because its whole size is so small. Glad it looks alright.
It is more random than related though it IS related, will send you a Note, as usual!

I'm not sure what I think of this because I feel like I'm not smart enough to understand it. I do find the variety of scope/zoom on the faces to be interesting- how some are just of the eye(s) and others the whole face or side or back of the head. Something I find interesting is that all the profile views of the faces, the people have a neutral or sullen expression and the one off to the left screaming is kind of eerie. I like that they are being reflected on all sides of the little cubes, or boxes, they are in.. like there is nothing else but themselves. Having the one, flat panel of the cat pouncing the mouse makes everything seem primal.

Me being silly, just wish cats didn't look so cute and goofy when they pounced.

very interesting...i like the concept(s?) and the pseudo-defined parallels between each box (/microcosm? not quite sure). wonderful as always

neither am I sure if they are 'micro-cosms'! But thought they would be a good composition. Flat and not so flat at the same time.
