In the "film noir" mood, I would like you to see how perfectly the spots on the cheetah's back draw the eye from the face, which is the most potentially alarming signal to it's prey. Indeed, the face is lost against the background foliage by virtue of the facial stripes. The photograph, in this particular conversion from color to black and white, becomes for me a metaphor for the tension created by hidden threat. Note the glint in the cheetah's eye. The predator is all alert.
