(That title is what happens when you upload deviations while sleep deprived. Apologies for all!)It's a crime how, in my dear Mexico, Calvin is better known for all those vulgar peeing decals, and not because he stars in one of the best newspaper strips ever published. Oh well, doing my part by honoring him and Mr. Hobbes with today's drawing! Based on the cover of the 10th anniversary book .
My pen has been working overtime lately, but today it was the eraser who got the most use, by far! Even then there's several errors in the finished drawing, but hey, Inktober's all about moving forward while learning from past mistakes. Anywhos, enjoy!

The cartoonist retired after burning out as he was attempting to do what Peanuts creator Charles Schulz was doing, and done almost 50 years: draw every single strip of the series all by himself. Schulz was a dedicated man who felt the strip was the only thing he could ever do. Waterson, Berke Breathed, and the fellow who created The Far Side had a life, so to speak.
Peanuts, though the characters are not easy to draw as they appear, had minimal backgrounds where Waterson created all the worlds Calvin and Hobbes frolicked in. The works were fantastic, visually.
But as Inktober shows us, deadlines always loomed and the reality of day to day living interferes with the art constantly.
The creator of Doonsberry had assistants. As did Mort Walker, creator of Beetle Bailey.
