Description
Probably one of my first pieces ever, all created from a short line art piece I did of a photo of the great "Goth Queen".It's a little bit over the top, and you can also see a not so very subtle rip-off from a Roy Lichtenstein painting in the left corner.

Over the top? I beg to differ. This is incredible. I have the original photo in poster form on my ceiling. I much prefer your version. The breaking up of her face is really stunning, and even seems to hint at something deeper, not just aesthetic, visual value. For me, it shows her different personal and musical facets. She and the Banshees, have, after all, evolved over time and your different window pane-esque sections reflect that. I adore this

Too much honor really. Thank you so very much Abbie. I indeed drew the black and white version from a photo, and after that I cut it into pieces and simply used some other photo and print textures, and glued the stuff Siouxsie pieces. After that I put the them together, scanned them, and altered the colors in photoshop and added some effects to make it look dirty and old. So in a way you could say I saw Siouxsie in pieces ^_^
Thank you so very much for your sharp and warm reaction. I must admit then I am also blushing right now.

Thank you very much, I also like your pics in your gallery.
As for this Siouxsie, well it could have been better.
Being desperate to finish in ways that I even would rip off Lichtenstein is kinda sad [link]

The truth is, I was actually listening to some Siouxie music when I was browsing DeviantArt and I happened to find your piece. It was meant to be, lololol.
And thanks, I am just working on my own gallery, I barely started getting my creative muses together.

Maybe I should listen to more Batcave era music.

So many lovely bands of that era, like The Cure, Killing Joke, Siouxie and the Banshee's, The Danse Society, Sex Gang Children and Skeletal Family. But then again "Goth" these days isn't bad either it's just more,...incorporated.

I actually do like the Goth music of this day too, a lot. I just do not think that bands like Marilyn Manson, Evanescence or HIM to be Goth. They just do not seem to live the full on lifestyle off stage that they seem to try to portray on stage. I am in no way a TradGoth who says that its only really real Goth if it sounds like the 80s Batcave era stuff. The way I see it, Goth music is categorized based on the emotional vibes and ideologies in the music more so than a particular sound.
Then again...overtime it has all become so confusing and controversial from people debating people left and right on the matter. Judging by the nature of the internet then someone is going to just come along and tell me I am some immature Babybat MallGoth who does not know shit because I am too young to get into most REAL Goth clubs or something.
idk
lol

I hear you my friend.
I have nothing against modern Goth music and even like a few acts. The "mainstream music industry" always likes to label everything that comes out, so they can market the product more efficiently, even if it's labeled wrong.
You are quiet right to say that shock rockers like Manson, Alternative Metal bands like Evanescence or "Neoglam" like HIM isn't Goth (just borrowers of some elements). My opinion simply was that Goth is incorporated into many other different styles. Goth-Metal, Goth-industrial and even Goth-Pop for example.
There simply are more hybrids these days then there was back then (although I can't really be talking about the subject since I am not that old to have witnessed it). I also disapprove of the TradGoth mentality, saying that "Goth is only 80's Batcave music". It's like a weeping John Lydon who says that Green Day isn't punk (or was anyway). Time's change.
Well now for some reason my Siouxsie pic thread has become a discussion about the scene. How do you like that ^_^lol

Very true, I believe that it was the "mainstream music industry" that categorized all the above non-goth bands as Goth.
There just seems to be a vibe missing from their music that would make it be categorized as 'Goth'. Goth is very much a sub-culture and alternative lifestyle more so than just a teenage phase, and so I would say that if the musicians live a Gothic lifestyle then the music would be 'Goth', then again, there are many non-goth musicians that are widely accepted within the Gothic community, such as a few 80s Glam Rockers.
What I have to say about TradGoth mentality is, mainstream culture has changed since the 80s, so did alternative culture.
But as far as Punk is concerned and Green Day, I would say that they only play upon Punk motifs every once in a while, but the band is not too punk because they do not live much of a punk lifestyle.
XD
Way to go Siouxsie pic.
Actually, its because I like to talk a lot about nonsense and its fun to rant.
You can just tell me to STFU at any time.

Well that same "Goth Vibe" is something I find mostly in the original Goth streams of the early 80's. But I am in no ways a TradGoth, since I also like bands who have contributed to Goth music but didn't stay inside movement like Killing Joke or The Cure, and even Joy Division.
I guess this is what makes me different from the TradGoths, that and the fact that I actually like some new acts out there. As for Goth lifestyle,..well I think it can be used for everything. I don't live by the code (sort of speaking) but it's fair to say that Goth still haunts a great deal of the adolescents out there.(I sound like an old man, I know). I very much agree that times have changed, and I simply do not agree with a lot of TradGoth mentalities that say: "Goth is dead".
I simply say: "all the bats are hiding inside their caves" . Goth is still alive and around, if you know where to look...
Don't worry, I like your rants, so please DON'T STFU but SPEAK UP!!!

I do get that vibe from the oldschool Goth music too, or than again, maybe I just like the Gothic Rock sound that it has.
I ESPECIALLY get that vibe from RomantiGoth music! There is just something about the darker side of a romantic emotion that I cannot resist. I guess I do kinda have the RomantiGoth mentality at times. I am also really into the somewhat historical aesthetic that comes with it.
lol, I like that saying, its true. Goth is far from dead, but the problem with a lot of people is not know where to look for a Goth community.

Sadly I have to say that i never was that much into the romantic aspects of Goth.
I wonder weather I miss the sentiment or simply am not that kinda person...
Yeah true, but then again the Goth communities on the net are not that hard to spot.
There not always accessible or easy to approach, but it's not hard to find.
"yeay for modern technology"

If thats the case then what kind of Older Goth music do you like? And what kind of modern Goth music do you like?
What is it that draws you to Goth in the first place?
Do you have any favorite online Goth social networking websites?
